My DH, Mom, sister, and I are heading up to San Jose to register for baby stuff in a couple of weekends. I was thinking it would be fun to do dim sum since my Mom and sister have never experience it. We do not have anything in our area that serves it. I want to find a place that is authentic and has the carts they roll up and you just chose from there.

Anyone have any ideas where to go in San Jose?

I'll ask DBF since he spends a good bit of time in the Valley and is a dim sum nut, but meantime I know that Chris Yeo has a very elegant place there (http://sinorestaurant.com/)- maybe a little much for your outing, though? I think it's more in line with Yank Sing here in SF than the bright and noisy places of Chinatown.

Canice,

The restuarant looks very good. I will have to keep that one in mind. A friend of my DH recommended a place called Dynasty. Have you heard of that one? I would appreicate your DB's recommendations.

Thank you.

Alas, he says he's never had dim sum in San Jose.
However, Dynasty had some pretty favorable reviews on Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/biz/wHxDq-YjAIPWZ9fNbbnEzw) - did you check them out?

Chris Yeo's place looks very nice, and I used to enjoy eating at his Strait's Cafe here in the city, but it could get pricey FAST for dim sum. I'll let you know if I learn of anything else in SJ. But based on the Yelp reviews, I'd be willing to try Dynasty; a lot of the complaints seemed pretty standard for a large-scale place of its nature. Despite the person who was outraged that the food came on carts and they were offered chicken's feet. Get thee to Panda Express.

Thanks again for the help. We will probably try Dynasty. It is only 10 mins from Babies R US and I think I will be too stressed out to go to a nice, fancy place.

Thanks again for the information.
