I'm a newly transplanted Southern girl and I would like to start or become part of a Cooking Light Supper Club in the Kirkland/Bellevue area. Let's get together, meet new friends and share great food!

HI Kim,
Sounds like a great idea....Keep me in mind. I live just over the 520 freeway in Bellevue...so not far from Kirkland.

Hi Kim,

Count me in too! I live in the Bellevue area near Micosoft. It'll be fun to cook and meet new friends. Shall we pick a theme?

This could be quite a big group! I live in North Seattle, and would like to get involved. I'd be glad to help you organize, but I will be away in early July. Let's really get this off the ground!

I live on Capitol Hill in Seattle and would like to join a supper club. There seem to be a lot of people volunteering already--does it make sense to have two clubs, one for the Eastside and one for "mainland" Seattle, with a grand meeting or two once in a while?

Kim: Pls add me to the list of folks interested in a Kirkland club. Email me directly if you'd like some help in getting this rolling. It would be great to kick-off in July. Thanks.

Does anyone know the usual size of these clubs? From the messages posted it looks like about a dozen people are interested. If everyone has a spouse or significant other that would be about 24. Sounds like a lot of good food to me. Otherwise we could split up into two groups so people would not have to drive as far. I live in the north end and would prefer to be closer to home but it does not matter. Just some feedback....

Wow - what a great response. I just read about supper clubs in the newest issue of CL and was very excited to see that there are plenty of people in Seattle who are interested in getting a club started. Maybe since there are so many interested we could come up with a creative way to have two groups that meet on their own on a regular basis and either join together every once in awhile or rotate so we are able to meet more people.

Hello all. I am also on Capitol Hill and interested in a Seattle supper club. Sounds like there's been a pretty good response, and reason to believe that two separate clubs are in order. Anyone else interested in getting onto the actual planning?

I just sent an email to KimL suggesting that maybe we see if someone would be interested in hosting a dessert and coffee (we could each bring a dessert)so that we could all get together and meet and decide how best to organize ourselves. Just a thought. Hmerz

Yeah!! We had our first meeting, which was a great success, to discuss how to organize the Cookinglight Seattle Supper Club. There were about 8 members who showed up and several more who sent their regrets for not being able to attend but who still want to participate. At this point there is still discussion of splitting into two groups, but initially we are going to meet together until we get a better sense of who all wants to participate.

The plan is to meet on a monthly basis - we put the first official supper on the calendar - Friday, July 28th, 2000 and we are planning to meet sometime during the third weekend in August. We are using the recipes from the "When you Dish Upon a Star" article in the CL July 2000 issue as our theme for the July meeting.

In order to better facilitate our on-line discussion, general communication, and have a bit more privacy, all of the members are joining an email group at egroup.com. If you were not at the meeting on Sunday and still want to participate please send an email with your name, address, phone number and email address so that we can have the egroup moderator add you to the list. (You can send it to me at hmerz@yahoo.com)

Based on the group who came to the informational meeting and those who have expressed interest but were unable to attend - I think we are going to have a great time getting to know one another and sharing good food!!!

Thanks,
Holly

Hi! I live in Seattle and am also very interested in a Seattle Supper Club. However, I am hoping there would be one in the city. Would you be interested in starting one together? Please let me know.

Hello Seattle Supper Club,

My husband and I live in Snohomish and are interested in joining. Did the group break up into two or is there still one?

Please advise.
