Okay what is it with people using the bathroom and not washing their hands???! I just witnessed another person, who was coughing up a storm in their stall also, walk out without washing their hands. That is so disgusting! So lets say that some people have hand sanitizer at their desks and clean them that way, for the sake of being seen by someone just wash your d@mn hands! I don't even touch the door handle anymore either, I use a paper towel to open it. I've even seen Managers not wash their hands:eek:

A good one I like seeing is when a person just turns on the faucet, and puts their hands under it (with no soap) for about 3 seconds and considers that washing their hands.

Also what is with people talking on cell phones while their in the bathroom? That is so annoying, let alone hearing flushes in the background.
Sorry guys I'm venting.....

I had a good bathroom event last week. I went to open the door and the handle came off in my hand! I thought for sure I was going to be locked in there for the rest of the day since it's in a hall where not many people go.

I agree on the hand washing thing as well. Or the kitchen. Why can you not put your own mug in the dishwasher. And, if you take the last cookie in a box please throw the box in the garbage that is 2 feet away.

Uh, oh, look what you started! :p ;)

I agree with everything you wrote.

How about printing up a sign and hanging it in the restroom.

"Please respect the privacy of your co-workers. Please, no cell phones in the restroom.

Help us keep a healthy work environment. Prevent the spread of colds, flu and other nasties. Wash your hands well before returning to the workstation.

Thank you,
Your fellow restroom patrons."

Chiming in here. I agree that I hate it when people talk on cell phones in the restroom, or don't wash their hands. However, I do NOT use the soap in most restrooms, as I am allergic to so many brands--especially the institutional ones. The ones that don't cause me to actually break out dry my skin so badly that I itch for the rest of the day, no matter how much lotion I apply. So, I do a "token" wash, use a paper towel to open the door, then go back to my office and use hand sanitizer. If I remember, I take hand sanitizer with me and use it in the restroom, but I'm usually stopping in the restroom to or from somewhere else.

So, I might be one of those people grossing you out, but I promise, I do use good hygiene and go out of my way to protect others from my germs.

Sorry if this is a repeat of a previous post, but it still irks me !!
At work the closest womans restroom is a single so this is the one I choose 99% of the time.
Well here I am standing outside the door, waiting, waiting, waiting, about to give up and make the hike to the opposite side of the building when I hear the flush and following sink and towel dispenser. Good finally!! Then what to my surprise walks out but a MAN!!! No kidding! Geeze.... He choose not to acknowledge me so he didn't see the death stare.
I refused to use the restroom, made the hike anyway and then COMPLAINED

My pet peeve with many public restrooms is that the doors of them always seem to be designed so that you push to go in and pull to go out. Wouldn't it be better if that were reversed so you wouldn't have to use that darn paper towel to pull the door open to leave?

I wish our office would invest in this: http://www.squidsoap.com/ :D Though I guess it doesn't help much for those that just bypass the wash step altogether.

My other gripe is flushing - can they really not wait 2 seconds to see if a second flush might be needed?

Oh yeah. Totally disgusting. Have these people not taken 6th grade biology  ?

I don't care one way or another about cell phones in a bathroom (public or private!) but I'd never use one there. At least that doesn't spead somebody else's diseases ;)

And, what's with people who use those seat protectors and then don't make sure they're flushed down? You can't tell me that as you're pulling up your pantyhose and adjusting your clothes you don't see that the protector is still on the seat.

I agree with the flushing thing... although, someone here at work isn't bothering to even try to flush. It's really disgusting. What's wrong with people?

And if you are going to stink up the place, please do a courtesy flush.

I wish we had an option of hand sanitizer here (in a wall mount dispenser) because that cr@ppy hand soap is really drying out my hands!

The worse place by far was a restaurant that had two stalls. We were there for a few hours, and so I had to visit the washroom a few times (too much beer), and ... tell me, why, oh why do people have to pee on the toilet seat? Really now.... I told DH that we will not be visiting that restaurant again....

That squid soap idea is very cute. I did the Twinkle Twinkle method with my kids, but it is very hard to get a workplace consitent with handwashing. Even hospitals have a very hard time with compliance. I was reading an article about how some hospitals would even go around giving starbucks cards to employees that washed effectively, but still only got about 80 percent compliance. The way they increased hand washing- they called a staff meeting and had everyone place their hands on large agar plates and cultured the results. They then photographed the colonies and placed them up where everyone could see the growth rates. No names, but job titles. Most dirty hands- doctors and cafeteria workers. Least dirty hands- janitors! How is that for turning conventional wisdom on its head.
