Hi all!

Yoga today, then DD and I chipped and shoveled all the ice off of our driveway. Just in time for the snow that is now coming down! At least it won't be covering the ice.....yesterday a friend got stuck in our drive, and it was a real challenge to get her out. Lesson learned!

So what's everyone else up to?

Coming off my WW weigh-in yesterday, I have been super-motivated to work out. (I was down 2.8 lbs for the week!) My week 3 WW booklet, however, was all about movement, and reality hit me -- I AM going to have to exercise every day for the rest of my life! So, to boost my workout last night, I decided I'd spend five minutes running on the track before I went in to use the ARC trainer....I usually walk a few laps before getting on the machines, anyway, and figured anyone can run for five minutes; it doesn't have to be fast! It felt good....so much so that I went out to buy a new pair of running shoes today.

So, today I spent about 40 minutes doing cardio (incl. a five-minute run); and probably 15 minutes doing abs, side planks, squats and a few stretches.

To keep up with the motivation to run (about the only way I can get my heart-rate up into that high-intensity zone), I'm going to see if I can find a 5-k race to enter in May.

Next....

Hi Kathy and Jackie,

Kathy, it sounds like you're getting the winter we usually get. No ice or snow here yet. Glad you got your driveway cleared.

Jackie, good job running on the track and deciding to look for a 5K. And also, congrats on your WW success.

Today I ran a new loop that DH swears is 5K. I did it in 29 minutes, including stopping at a light and a stop sign for traffic, which is good for me. No weights this weekend; hopefully I'll get back to that during the week.

Kathy -- today might be my day to get stuck! It's been snowing here since early morning and I haven't seen or heard a single plow. I'm supposed to drive to Milwaukee tomorrow; hope it stops and we get cleaned out before then!

Martha -- I'm impressed with your 5k time! Do you run a lot? I used to (about 20 years ago :o ). I did a 5k a few years ago (the only one I did in the decade of my 40s) and was just happy to finish without serious consequences! I'm probably in a little better shape now (weight notwithstanding), and I think I might be a little smarter about training. There's a 5k as part of the Green Bay Cellcom Marathon May 20 -- all the runners (marathon, half-marathon and 5k -- get to run through Lambeau Field. That's what I'll shoot for -- four months to train should be enough.

So....I went back to the gym today and did about a 6 min. warm-up run for my 30-minute elliptical workout. Did some abs, squats, etc., as well as my upper body strength training. (Earned 3 activity points!)

I might be shoveling snow a little later, too! :D

Great work you guys! I wish that I was more motivated to go to the gym. I seem to be a weekend-only exerciser right now! I'll have to work on that...

Yesterday, I skate skied 34 km (about 21 miles). I did 23km (about 14 miles) in the morning with just a few short stops to catch my breath after climbing some of the nastier hills. That was a first for me. I am trying to work towards doing a loppet, which is a 30 km (about 19 miles) race, at the end of March. I'm still not sure if I can do it, but if I can get my butt in gear to get to the gym and run a bit more, then maybe, maybe...

Today, I had a soccer game for an hour and a half. It was so windy that when I wasn't running after the ball or someone else with the ball, I was hopping around trying to keep warm. Luckily, it wasn't raining!

Anyone else out there?

I'm out here. :D It's been a very full day! A long time ago (about 9:00 this morning), I did a full-body workout. Cardio, weights, abs.

It sounds like everyone had a weekend of various types of exercise. "Way to go!" for all of us!!!! :D

An even later post!:p

After scraping all the ice off the driveway Saturday, we then got about 5 inches of snow overnight. So my workout Sunday was to shovel the driveway, sidewalk and deck with DS. It was a real strength workout as we were at it for well over an hour and a half, and there was a ton of lifting involved. Who knew snow could be so heavy??!! I shed my overcoat and my jacket soon into it, and was just wearing my regular clothes. Believe it or not, it was actually kind of pleasant!

Oceanjasper, your skateskiing sounds really fun. Have you done a "loppet" before? Please keep us posted how that goes!

Hope you made it to Milwaukee without any problems Jackie!

Great job on your run, Martha!

Melanie and Peggy, Greetings to my fellow late-posters! Thanks for keeping me company. ;)

Skateskiing is one of those sports that I tried once and fell in love with. Not only is it a great workout, it is just so beautiful and peaceful on the snowy trails. I have never done a loppet before! I have only ever watched it (and thought that they were all crazy for doing it! :)) I'll let you know if I decide to go for it!
