I called my Italian grandfather and said "The Speaker is a paisan!"
He said, "I cried I was so proud. Then I cried because Bush and Cheney are still in office, but I always do that."
Love him.

I'm not Pelosi's biggest fan politically, however, I must say that as a woman, it was really great to see her in that seat last night!

Where were her pearls? :p I read this article about the very expensive (size and color of pearls) strands she wears.

I loved the way she seemed so thrilled and proud to be there. She realizes her role and is LOVING it. I'm not one of her supporters, but who knows...she could change my mind.

Appearances were obviously important to Ms. Pelosi, who changed from the brown suit she had worn earlier in the day to a soft green one, which offered more contrast to her dark leather speaker’s chair.
I look forward to the day that a woman who is famous for her brains rather than her looks can appear on tv without having her clothing choices dissected.
Lets discuss Cheney in his Darth Vader black instead. ;) I wonder where he hid his helmet?

i think it is wonderful that a brainy, successful woman can be attractive and fashionable at the same time... they are not mutually exclusive... the article might have been dissecting her choices, but the rest of us were just making passing comments.
i certainly have thought to myself before "gee bush would look snazzier if he would mix up the blue or red tie with a purple or green one occasionally" :D

What a great man! :D Thanks for an early morning smile.
I also noticed the light blue tie. It's either light blue or red. Period. My son even commented on the light blue tie "again."
Darth Vader - very appropriate. The sneer...the snarl... very scary. Oops, I forgot... he thrives on the fear-factor.
