OK who's getting married this year? I know SheRa, Dr. Beckms, (Jalapeno?), Who else? Just want to mark my calendar!!

I got married in 2005 and was too busy between my crazy old job and wedding planning to post much. But for all you brides-to-be there are lots of us who've been through it who can share stories to help you through the roadblocks!

OMG. June 2nd. I never thought I'd let a wedding stress me out. I try to only think about it at designated times. For example, I've set aside a 4 day weekend in March to go to my parents' with DF and his parents so we can all see the site and have tastings and have a shower and meet the officiant and do the registry stuff and OMG I'm getting stressed just thinking about it. Blarg.

Actually, right now I'm more stressed about the surprise bachelor party that I'm planning for DF in two weeks. I hope it goes smoothly!

June 16th.

Having ceremony in rose garden downtown, reception at a hall my friend works at. Doing our own catering - getting bunches of stuff from Costco and cooking it there, thanks to help of family and friends who are in town that weekend.

It's my third, fiance's first, so I'm pretty casual about it. My goal is to have a wicked fun party for my friends and family. I have no colors. My maid of honor and I will find whatever dress looks fabulous on her (and we refuse to shop at a bridal store for her) and that's what she'll wear. The guys are wearing suits they already own. I don't even have my dress yet. I have a vision of something like Charlotte's 2nd wedding dress in Sex&City that was floaty and chiffon and off white. Find me a knockoff of that for cheap and we're in business.

Beckms - been there done that with my 2nd, did in his hometown with help of his parent's secretary. Best advice - focus on having a great time and delegate lots of little details you don't care about to others. They'll feel touched to be included, and you'll have less to do :)

Congrats Sarah! I didn't know that (not that I know you all that well, but at least I know the face and 'recognize' you here :) )

Hi Ladies,

I'm not a bride but would like to join if it's okay. I just quit my job in Psychology (which I worked at for 11 years) to start my own wedding planning business. Would love to "listen in" and hear what your concerns and stressors are to help me with my future brides.

I may be able to answer some questions or help solve some problems too:)

Thanks,
Christine B

"Here comes Jalapeno, all dressed in white... dum da da dum..." :) You must be getting excited!! I hope it went OK, when my dress arrived it was too small! Talk about a Freak Out Session, they matched my measurements wrong on the order chart. But a bridal shop will do ANYthing to keep an angry bride quiet about their screw-up, so I got a free veil and shoes and Expedited Dress in the right size.

So far I count 5 CLBB brides this year, that's a lot!! And hey now you guys have a personal planning consultant - good luck with your new venture Christine B!!

I am too, in September.

SheRa, I kind of remember a post of yours looking for an officiant awhile back, did you find one? I'm getting married in Westchester and that is next on our list.

How many bridesmaids are there, Robin? That might help us suggest something. My own wedding is really small...and only one attendant: my best friend since grade school. Our joke is that she must defend me to the death from any possible problems the day of, so I want to get her something that resembles a sword. Letter opener? I'm not sure. There will probably be something else too. Most likely jewelry.

yep! we found dotti templeton and she's super nice and willing to research new stuff for you. we didn't want any of the traditional stuff (unity candle, readings, etc.) and i'm half persian, so she looked up persian rituals for us, and we picked a really nice one out. she seems really great. she's totally laid back and a great match for us. here's her website:

Just 3 months now. I'm starting to get a little stressed. Today we are doing the "tasting" for the dinner. So many little details to plan. I'm looking for ceremony music (ie specific songs). Our wedding and reception are outside at a resort.

What I'm really excited about is the honeymoon in St. John!;)

I gave mine monogrammed bracelets, they were silver, sort of a hard skinny band and then an oval that clasps the two ends together that has the monogram. They were all married already, I was the last to get hitched. I also ordered myself one with my new initials, it was fun SIL wore it up the aisle with hers and then put it on me before DH and I strolled down the aisle at the end. I'll try to find a link (but I'm horrible at posting them!! :o ) They also come in kids sizes for your Jr. Bridesmaid.

ETA I think they were about $40-50 each.

that's a really nice idea! i'm only having a MOH, and i'm not sure what to get her. so far i've gotten a few little things, mostly jokes like this "kiss the bride" breath spray (she just got married in october) that's really funny - it says something about not slipping the bride the tongue, and that you get ONE flavor for the rest of your life, "i hope you like peppermint" which made me laugh SO hard!! and some silly cocktail napkins for her new house, but i definitely wanted to get her something nice too.

How about some dagger jewelry (http://www.cameoheaven.com/othersilver.html)?

The larger one is a pin.

I have 2 of these type of pieces and they are quite the conversation piece, above and beyond being just beautiful, unique jewelry.

Okay, those are cool. And I'd wear them. I'm not sure she would. Hmmm....

But on a brighter note, I paid the deposit on my flowers and I took DF with me to choose a wedding cake. We tried a black fondant ruffle on the cake (I love being a friend of the baker. She made it while we waited. :D ), but I decided that the leather look wasn't really what I wanted for the wedding...and I think it scared DF a bit that I might go for it. Ah well ;)
