I picked up a couple heart-shaped molds (about 3"x4") at Target and I'd like to make some treats to bring my co-workers on Valentine's Day.
What should I make? I was thinking chocolate cake or brownies or something but I'm open to any ideas.
Also how should I package the hearts after they're baked?
I bought heart-shaped cake pans for ds's birthday (as well as for Valentine's). The cake was a huge hit. For the next family get-together, I'm planning to make a red velvet cake with white frosting and chocolate shavings on top for decoration. I think that would look very nice for your give-away. But that's just me. (I'm still researching recipes or I'd post one here for you.) Good luck.

I second TKay's suggestion for red velvet cake w/ frosting. You could also do cherry or raspberry cheesecakes, but I think brownies are always a hit. Who doesn't like brownies? :p

Ok, I'm thinking Red Velvet Cake might be it. Anyone have a good recipe?

It's been awhile since I have made RV Cake so I can't remember which recipe I used last time, but as you look through different recipes you will see that they are all pretty much the same except for some call for butter, some call for oil and some call for shortening. I have made both the oil based (like Martha Stewart's recipe) and the butter based and found the butter one to be WAY better. Be careful not to overbake because RV Cake can be on the dry side.
I think there are quite a few RV Cake threads on this board if you do a search. They will look so pretty in heart shapes. You could top the cream cheese icing with red hots. Good luck!
