Hi, I just moved to Tucson and am looking to
meet people. My apt. is too small to host a club,
unfortunately, but I hope we can get one
started. I live near the University.

I just found this bulletin board, and am not sure if you started a club or not but I would be interested in getting together with other Cooking Light Cooks. I am 26, my husband is 39. We have lived in Tucson for 3 years. Our apartment is also fairly close to the university. Email me at marlowed@hotmail.com if you want to do dinner some time.

Supper in Tucson,AZ
I should not have linked to this web site. I'm in here checking out all the food and I really only came to see about a supper club. I love entertaining, the more the merrier and the stranger the recipe the tastier. Let's do as Cooking Light suggests. Get together for coffee somewhere and make a plan. My email is on my profile.

Hi, I'm new in Tucson (about 2 months since we moved here), and interested in supper club. But, I can't attend the coffee meeting this weekend...We're leaving to see our family in TX. =(

Also, is there still any room left? Since we're going to miss this meeting, I'd love to be posted what is going on at least, if it's possible.

It's exciting!! I'm looking forward to knowing more about this activity.

Thanks!

I can't make it this weekend either. Any evening this week is possible. If you do meet, if you could update me I would appreciate it.
Thanks

It looks like getting together for coffee this weekend isn't good for most of us interested in starting a Tucson supper club.

How about this Thursday (Aug. 30) or next Tuesday evening (Sept. 4)? We could get together and get the ball rolling in person...

And is it better to make plans via the bulletin board, or by separate emails?

Thanks, Sarah

i found that I will be out of town this weekend and so will my friend. Next week Tuesday sounds better as we can both come after work. She live in the Central area and I live in Oro Valley. We both work next to the airport. Where is a good place to meet close to everyone. Central? Nori, Barbara,Sarah, Egale don't worry I think there is plenty of room for everyone as this is just getting off the ground. I am looking forward to meeting all of you. Christine

I live in East Side, and Sept. 2nd sounds good to me. BTW, is this group going to be couples' gathering? I'm not sure if my husband is interested in for now.....actually haven't asked him yet.

We'll be leaving on Thursday, and will be back on Monday. Please keep me posted at BB, or e-mail.

Thanks!

Nori...my friend and I are both single so I hope singles are welcome. If not we will start a single's club.

Tuesday the 4th would be a good day for coffee for me. I'm 31 and my husband is 33. We live on the East side, but can get to anywhere in Tucson very easily. Any ideas on a good meeting place.

How about meeting at Coffee Exchange near Grant and Campbell or at Swan and Grant? It looks like Tuesday, Sept. 4 is okay so far. Or maybe there's another place that would be good -- it seems like we have people coming from all parts of town.

And I would think that anyone who wants to participate in the club -- married, single or otherwise -- should be able to. I wouldn't want to limit it or exclude anyone.

Lisa I agree. Tuesday is good. Grant and Campbell is better for me but I can go anywhere. What is a good time for everyone? On Tuessdays I am off work at 230pm so I can come anytime. If everyone gets off later I can certainly shop to fill up the time..I am very flexible. Christine

Sept. 4 - Tuesday at Coffee Exchange sounds good. I get off work at 5:00 and need to run home and eat. It will just be me, (my husband will help cook and eat the food:) How does the Grant/Swan location sound, (by Bally's) at 6:30. I will keep checking the board today to see what is agreed upon. Oh yeah, and I think we will need to bring cook books or at least a list of ideas for our new adventure.

I think Tuesday (Sept. 4) at 6:30 p.m. at the Coffee Exchange at Grant and Swan sounds good.

Does that work for you guys?

The suggestions for starting a supper club suggests a pot luck for the first actual supper meeting. Maybe we should bring the latest issue or two of the magazine to start with and we can go from there...

Hi,

My husband and I just moved to Oro Valley in August and would love to be included in the new supper club. As luck would have it, today was the first time we've looked at this bulletin board. If there is room for two more we will plan to meet with everyone on Tuesday at the Coffee Exchange at Grant and Swan.

I so wanted to go but this weekend I caught a nasty cold and ended up spending my vacation sleeping. Did not think it fair to spread it around. Would love to here how it went.

Hi! I just joined the message board today and see you are already set for your first supper club dinner. Are you still accepting new members, or do you think I should try to start another club? Tucson is very large and we could actually have a club in each part of town. I live Northeast off of Tanque Verde. What do you all think? Thanks! salsa

We met for the first time last Tuesday, the 4th of September. There were seven people total, including two brave husbands. Those of us who were able to attend the meeting have scheduled a potluck dinner for the month of September. However, we DO NOT want to begin excluding people who are still intereseted in joining the supper club. We thought we would have another group meeting sometime in October. This will give the people who were unable to attend the previous meeting a chance to participate in the October dinner. If we have a sizable group at the next meeting, maybe then we can discuss if it makes the most sense to split up into smaller, more localized groups. We are all here to have fun, meet new people, and experiment with our cooking. Continue to post comments here. We can decide as a group when to have the October meeting.

For those people who were unable to attend the first dinner, but are still interested in joining the Tucson Supper Club, our next Organizational Meeting is on Thursday Sept 27 at 6:30pm at the Coffee Exchange in the group of shops on the North side of Grant just east of Swan. We will select a date, place, and menu for the next Supper Club.

Hi, I'd like to join your supper club! I won't be able to attend the meeting next Thursday though; I am a student at the U of A and I have a class at 6 pm. Let me know if there will be any other meetings, or if there won't be any, what I can bring, and where the next supper club will be.
I'll check both this board and the ezboard. thanks!

I'm new to Tucson and I love cooking and entertaining. I saw that you have a supper club going, and I was wondering if you accept new members, or if you know of other clubs here in town who might need another member. I'm single, so I don't fit into a couple's-only club, but yours seemed to have both couples and singles. Please reply if you have any ideas. Thanks so much.

Mary,

I got info. from Lola that you are interested in joining our supper club. I have sent along your request to the rest of the members to make things as democratic as posible. Our next meeting will be on Sept. 15th or 22nd. If there are no objections to adding one more to the group I will post more meeting info. before the 15th of Sept. I just thought I would respond now so you knew we got your request.

Thanks for your reply. Another person new to Tucson posted a reply to my original posting and she is interested in joining a supper club as well. That is something to consider. If your supper club is full, I could try to dig up some more new folks to get a group started. I would still love to interact with your group either way. I'm sure that you have great ideas on organizing the process. Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed and see what happens. Thanks again. :)

Mary,

Our CL group would be happy to have you join us. I will take it upon myself to also extend the invitation to the other new person in Tucson.

If you are still interested in joining us, our next meeting is September 22nd. Here is the link to our web site:
http://pub95.ezboard.com/btucsoncookinglightsupperclub71980

All the info. you need should be there. Click on general then September meeting. The way our group works is that we all meet once a month, rotating houses. The person who hosts the meeting decides on theme and makes the main dish. Everyone else brings a side dish, salad, appetizer, or dessert. I would suggest bringing enough for at least 12 people. We have four couples and one single lady in our group.

Please post on the above web site what you will bring. If you can not post on our web site, I will continue to check this site for your responses. :)

Thanks, Dawn. I'll be there. I will need to decide what to bring, so I will either post here or on your supper club web site if I can. I guess I'll look for the group at the bandshell. Hopefully I'll find you easily. Thanks again,
Mary

hi Do you have any more room in your dinner clup. I just moved here and would love to meet some new people. I was in a dinner club in Northern NY and loved it can't wait to get back active again.
