Hello - I'm interested in joining an existing supper club or starting one in Denver. If anyone knows of any existing ones seeking new members, let me know. Or if anyone wants to begin one - please post a note.
Thanks

Hi Moe. What does a supper club do? Just have each other over for dinner? Or meet out for dinner?

HI,
I'm in! I haven't had any responses from existing clubs, so sure, starting a new club sounds fun. I live in Highlands Ranch and work downtown, so anything but the Northern Suburbs is convenient...
What did you have in mind?
My knife skills are haphazard at best and sometimes I burn the cookies, so I'd enjoy a group of easy-going, adventurous eaters who are interested in having fun in the kitchen and trying new recipes, without being seriously annoyed at small disasters. Still interested?

Hi Allie,
I am in Wash Park so it could work out. Let's keep this thread going and see if we can get a few more interested. I love to cook about anything so I'm adventurous in that respect. Hopefully we can 3 or 4 more people around the Denver area to join.
Thanks
Moe

I'm gathering, from AllieS, that supper clubs have each other over for dinner?
I grew up in Wash Park. :D I'm in Castle Rock now.

Hi Jezebelly,
Well, I don't know what Moe has in mind, but usually, supper clubs follow some type of rotating schedule - each month a different person hosts the gathering and decides on a menu. Sometimes, clubs spice it up by eating out as a group, too. I'm more interested in the cooking part, so would rather spend the majority of months making food - although I'm not opposed to checking out a new restau from time to time.
What are you interested in? Allie

Hello there! I am new to Denver (I've been here about 3 1/2 months) but have been a Cooking Light subscriber and fan for about 3 years. I live in Capitol Hill and would be interested in joining/starting a club as well (my only problem is that my apartment is small -- I could probably not handle more than about 6-8 people :-(
As my screen name implies, I am a flight attendant and am away from home about half the month. Weekdays are better for me than weekends, but weekends aren't necessarily out of the question (and who says we have to be limited to "supper" -- a weekend brunch could work nicely!)
So how do we get the ball rolling? Let's make it happen!

Do we wait for more interest or should the 4 of us meet?
I'm excited to get started, so I'm all for setting up a first meeting but think we will want a larger group, so lets keep the postings going back and forth to encourage more people to join! If you guys want to forge ahead, we need to choose a date and location for our "get to know each other" meeting - so post suggestions, please!
Allie
PS: I need help working with chilies! Last night I created sweet n' sour chicken/broccoli stir-fry disaster by adding a tiny sliver of ancho chili. I was hoping it would add a subtle, smoky hit but instead it was 10 alarm mouth fire and gutted all other flavors. Am I supposed to soak these first or otherwise render them less potent? Any hints appreciated:confused:

Yay! Finally some action. I'm all for starting small and seeing what happens from there. I know there was a western suburbs thread floating around out there as well; maybe we can bring that person into the fold.
I like the idea of meeting just to break the ice, maybe plan a theme/menu, etc. Not that everyone's world should revolve around me, but these are the days/dates I will be in Denver.
Friday March 9
Monday March 12
Thursday March 15
Sunday March 18 - Monday March 19 (parents are tentatively in town, but that could fall through).
Tuesday March 20 - Thursday March 22
Wednesday March 28 - Thursday March 29
I usually get my schedule for the following month by the 18-19th of the month, so it's hard for me to make future plans until I have that schedule... Unless you know someone in the airline industry, it'd be pretty crazy trying to explain the lifestyle. But if you'll all have some patience with me, I'd love to try and make this work.
Thanks!

Here's my schedule, too. I've only included the dates where Chris is available.
Friday March 9 - after 6pm
Thursday March 15 - after 7:15pm
Monday March 19 - after 6pm
Tue 20, Thurs 22, Thurs 29 might be possible, I should know in the next week what time I'm available.
Hope this takes off! Looking forward to meeting everyone soon,
Allie
PS: I invited AmynJustin to consider joining our group:D

Hi All,
I started up a supper club a few years ago and really enjoyed the experience. It ended as people's lives changed but I've been thinking it would be fun to get involved in one again.
My schedule is pretty free so just let me know when you want to get the ball rolling. I have a house in Littleton and would be happy to host the first event if needed.:)
Regarding the chili question. One way to make it less spicy is to make sure you don't include any of the seeds - they really pack the heat.

Comparing my schedule to Allie's, March 15 or March 19 would work best for me (March 9 would have to wrap up early for me; I have to be at DIA at 6:10 a.m. the next morning for work). It sounds like Chrissy is flexible and hopefully if we meet the 15th or 19th, it could give us some time to possibly round up a few more people.

Thanks so much for the invite. We actually have 2 small kids, so weekends work best for us... Hmmmmm.... :(

Hi All,
I'm concerned that this great idea might be fizzling out! It seems like we have some scheduling constraints...perhaps we could pick a weekend day or night in April to meet? OnTheFlyDEN, I know this is hard for you to do every month because of your work schedule, but maybe it's necessary to get the ball rolling.
Moeteddy, Jezebelly, amynjustin, monkee831 and OnTheFlyDEN please consider meeting once to see if this could be fun:p I'll throw out a weekend that works for me: April 21/22
Let's get some dialogue going again!
Happy St Patrick's Day, Allie
