My Computer Has Gotten So Slow!!help!!!!!

What could be wrong? My updates are all current. I have done a virus scan.....I have done the "Defender" Scan that scans for any add-ons....

i know there were attacks to try to bring the internet down...Is anyone else running slower than usual?

I was having problems yesterday but not today. Go to tools/internet options, the delete temp internet files, history, and cookies.

What virus software are you using that you can do a defender scan? I never knew about the attempts to bring the internet down. I am not running slow.

Could be a lot of things. You first need to do a disk cleanup, then run the disk defragmenter (that could take a long time to run if you haven't run it in awhile or have never run it). Both of those can be found under "Start" then "Programs" then "Accesories". You can also go to task manager and see what kinds of programs are running in the background and turn them off. (Ctrl+Alt+Del will take you to the task manager). Lots of programs you don't need or want to be running sometimes start themselves up and eat up lots of your RAM.

You can also clean up all your registry errors with a software from Uniblue called Registry Booster. You can download it from the internet. Go to www.uniblue.com . DH and I both did that recently and our computers were 1000 times better afterwards.

Make sure your spyware software is updated and run that. Lots of spyware programs can take over your computer and use up all the RAM. We use adaware spyware remover. Works very well and is free. www.adaware.com
