We are relatively new to the area and saw the article today in the Denver Post about supper clubs. We would love to meet new friends and join an existing one or start a new supper club. Any interest out there?

We're a middle aged couple, urbane and fun. Hope to hear from you.

Penny

I saw the same article, thought what a good idea! We've been in the area for a while, originally from the Midwest, love to eat, need to learn to cook and eat lighter. We're definitley middle-aged, looking towards retirement in 3-5 years. I love the idea of a couples group. Our son and daughter-in-law in Fort Collins are possibles. Thank you for being brave enough to send out feelers.

Dear Empty Nesters,

Shall we wait a few days and see if anyone else responds to our query? Regardless, we are open to meeting you for dinner at some restaurant in the area if you'd like to do that some night. We are also more than willing to include singles or couples in our possible upcoming get together. Glad you responded and hope more might be interested. Nothing ventured is nothing gained in my book and who knows if we might just "click."

Dear Penny & George and Empty Nesters,

I also saw the article in todays Denver Post. I am a big fan of Cooking Light, use their recipes often, and subscribe to their magazine. I am intrigued by the idea of a cooking club. However, I live in Longmont, have children at home, and am currently a student at CU. I am not sure how I could be consistent with such a commitment. I am interested in hearing more about your plans to form such a group and any recipe ideas you might want to share via e-mail.

Good Luck!

This does not need to be for couples only, I agree. We just wanted to make sure that males were welcome! Let's see what kind of response we get in the next week or so then set up a time and place to meet. Thanks again. Tim and Gayla

I'm also interested -- either solo or as a couple.

I've been receiving Cooking Light for a couple months now and really enjoy the receipes. I think it would be fun to pair good food with good company.

Therefore, please let me know the plan for the first meeting once it's in place.

Thanks.

I am in Fort Collins and would be interested in joining too! I have cooked from CL for a year now. My being able to come might depend on the night/time but I'd love to be included in your plans.

Hello?

Is anyone still out there? Are we still going to try to get together and see if we can get a group set up?

I'm also interested in joining a supper club. I'm a grad student so my time on weekends and evenings is fairly flexible and I would be willing to pitch in at setting up a club.

How about a meeting in Fort Collins, south end of town, sort of. How about a week night to get us started? Any suggestions?

Tim & Gayla:

Meeting in Ft Collins sounds good. Weeknight probably works. Not sure what you mean by "south end of town, sort of."
As for places...depends on if you want to do dinner or just want place to hook up and brainstorm. Couple ideas...Coop's Pub, Starry Night Coffee Shop.

Anyone else still out there? Any other suggestions?

I'm still here! A week night sounds good. Just to throw out a couple of south-end restaurants... Star of India, and the new ones at Timberline and Harmony: Old Chicago, Noodles, or Texas Roadhouse (I haven't tried any of these).

Hello!
Haven't looked in in awhile! Weeknight is great for me! Texas Roadhouse is very good, I've been there once. Coopersmith's (in Old Town) is also good. I also like Pott's on Elizabeth. Let me know time and place and I'll try to be there!

Because Penny started us on this journey, I thought someplace on the south end of Fort Collins would be more convenient for her--I know it is for me, coming from Greeley. My daughter-in-law says Fiddlesticks on Harmony east of College is a great place to eat. So how about 5:30 on a Tuesday or Wednesday night, say April 17 or 18? Gayla

That sounds great! I have been wanting to try Fiddlesticks! I can do either the 17th or the 18th at 5:30.

We're still interested, but would prefer the 17th.

Also, we'll be adding to the "Younger Than Middle Age But Like to Hang Out With All Sorts of People" demographic in the Mix.
We too are hopefully more men may decide to participate--any lurkers out there?

BTW: what kind of food does Fiddlesticks serve and do they take reservations? (We may want to get a headcount at this point, so we know how big of a table to get!)

Looking forward to it!!!

It's exciting to see this coming together! My 5 year old has swimming lessons in the early evenings, so I won't be able to attend the meeting at Fiddlesitcks. Please let us know how it goes!

Well, since it sounds like no one else is going.....I won't be there either! Just let me know when and where!

Well, since I first posted this note about starting a supper club, we went skiing in Breckenridge for a week and on March 23rd,I broke my leg! It has been pretty tough but things are finally looking up. It'll be three months before I'm fully recovered. For now, I'm spending eight hours a day in this awful machine to work on getting the bend back in my kneee and George is being my wonderful nurse. Fortunately, we office in our home. My entertaining and cooking days are on hold. But George and I would love to meet anyone for dinner and Ft. Collins is a good idea. Let us know where and when and I'll be there on crutches. We are always wanting to make new friends.

Penny, Hi! My husband and I are also a middleaged couple interested in meeting new people and joining a supper club. I've subscribed to Cooking Light about a year. We live in Windsor. This is the first time I've been to this web site though , so not sure if I'm doing this right. I've never been to a BB before.
