I'm doing South Beach, hoping to clear up some of my tummy troubles. I'm already completely bored with it though - but my tummy feels better.

Come chat with me about it (if you're doing it)?

Debie, are you familiar with this blog? Kalyn's Kitchen (http://kalynskitchen.blogspot.com/) is pretty much a South Beach lifer right now, and she has so many delicious looking recipes for all phases of South Beach.

I'm not doing SB myself, but I make a good cheerleader! Keep it up!:D

I'm not, but I need to go back to it. I just feel better and have more energy on South Beach. Just have to make the commitment and rethink what I do! Prevention Magazine's website used to have a South Beach forum with lots of ideas; I'm not sure if they still do or not.

Oooo, thanks for the link! That's perfect!!

I feel much better cutting out sugars and white flour - no tummy aches and other distresses. If I lose a bit of weight too it can't be a bad thing! I could stand to say goodbye to a couple of pounds!

I would like to do it more strictly. I have become way more aware of white sugar, flour, rice, etc and try to sub for whole wheat/grain when possible. I also feel better and feel fuller longer on less food, which contributes to eating less and losing weight.

It still cracks me up though that Dr. WhatsHisName made so much money on the SB diet when it's nothing new, good science and something that people with diabetes have had to pay attention to for so long. He was just good at marketing. :)

i lost a lot of weight on SB a few years ago. i was going through some bad personal stuff last year so started eating bad and not working out. put all the weight back on and then some (but i certainly don't blame it on the diet, it took me more than a year to gain it back!)

it worked so well for me last time, i decided to do it again. i'm just about at the end of my 2-week phase 1. i had forgotten how easy of a diet it is! never hungry, always eating healthy yummy foods. i really miss corn and pasta (yes, i'm a corn fanatic!) but it's worth it. my clothes are starting to fit better already...

can't wait to be on phase 2 and eat fruit again!

I follow WW's Core Diet which is close to SB but not as restrictive in some ways -- but more restrictive in others in terms of foods like nuts which go against one's weekly points rather than are Core.

It is based to a great extent on theories of Volumetrics which coincide very nicely with an emphasis on whole grains, fruits and vegetables.

I think low carb (Atkins) is pretty much gone as a popular diet since it is impossible for most people to sustain for any length of time and weight gain is pretty inevitable.

I've spent most of the last year following the Ina Garten plan of eating, and when I realized most of my clothes no longer fit, decided to do South Beach. My husband is doing it with me, so it makes it easier. We don't have a lot of weight to lose (maybe 10 for me, 20 for him), but weight isn't the real goal....we just want to get in the clothes we wore last year!!

We're now on week 3. I lost 8 pounds, but regained 3, but I'm hoping that's because I've made an effort to make it to the gym for about an hour every day. Good news is that my loosest skirt will now come over my hips. I'm inspired and we plan to keep going.

I found a number of blogs (including Kayln's) to keep me on track and give me good ideas for food. Check out the 3 Fat Chicks website...it has lots of good recipes. I'm also going back through old CL magazines and finding recipes that didn't look good when I received magazine, now they just look wonderful!!! I'm missing the ability to use corn products (corn, cornmeal, etc) and would love to have a muffin. But, that will come one day!

Yea, Ina loves her food! Don't you love it when she says "when you are entertaining, always use the best you can find. Save the low fat, fat free stuff for another time"...problem is, all her food always have full fat everything!

I love her cooking but it's to heavy for me

I did southbeach a few years back and it worked out okay for me but I was eating to much fat (to many eggs, cheese and peanuts). I've gone back to Weight Watchers Flex Points progam and that's worked for me. I've swapped white pasta, bread and rice for whole grain pastas and breads and brown rice. Portion control is what does it for me... i have to limit how much I have.

good luck
