Anyone watch the dog show? And how could you not miss those heart wrenching Pedigree adoption commercials they played every time. I had tears in my eyes every time I saw them. I think its great Westminster did this. I think purebreds have their place, but to feature importance adoption of shelter dogs through out the program was great. This campaign raised over one million dollars and they presented the check to American Humane just before they announced the winner.

Excuse me, but you posted this without so much as a tip of the hat to the winner? Of course, I'm completely biased as a lifelong Springer owner, but "Congratulations, James!"

You are right Bob, Congrats to James! DH and I looked at each other at the end and said he is going to win. Absolutely beautiful and what personality he had. My second was the what they called the Hebegebe?

It's "PBGV," which is short for Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. As beautiful as the springer was, I was really rooting for the PBGV - she was adorable. Plus, I'm partial to the hound group. ;)

And I agree about the Pedigree commercials. I saw the one with the shelter dogs for the first time last week and started to cry. I am glad to see Westminster encouring Pedigree's adoption efforts.

I missed the show and promos, but it sounds like a wonderful effort. Diamond Jim is such a beauty, and I love that he's going to be so helpful in his retirement - what a great second career. :)

You're so fortunate Bob, what a nice breed.

I haven't watched the show yet so I missed the Pedigree Donation programs and the commercials. However, since my signin name is Pointerhaven, you can guess what My Passion is, RESCUE. The fact that I chose to safe a pure breed group is because this group is as "abused as the greyhounds". Being dumped by their owners because they wont hunt naturally or the owers are such bad trainers the dog dosen't understand the training.
Any one in rescue, knows the heart wrenching stories of animals destroyed in out shelters. I would ask that each year you make at least one donation, no matter how small to your animal rescues. Thank you and I will step off the soap box now. Wanda

Darn, I missed the show. Completely forgot about it. And I do enjoy it. I therefore missed the adoption information also. What a great cause.
