I am my niece's Confirmation sponsor. (We are Catholic). I am trying to think of a good gift. I have no memory of what type of gifts I might have received..it was a long time ago! She is 13.
Thanks for any ideas.

What about a Bible? The whole point of Confirmation is to establish her more deeply in her faith, so having her own copy would be really nice. Christian bookstores (Family Christian in my area; I'm not Catholic but family is, and the FChristian is huge compared to the teeny Catholic bookstore) have "cool," teen-related Bible study guides also, making the Bible very relevant and helpful and not intimidating. You could have her name imprinted on the cover; most Christian bookstores are set up to do that. Call ahead to your local bookstore to see if they sell the Catholic Bible (with Apocrypha) if that's important to you; not all non-Catholic stores will carry it.

A Catholic One Year bible
A cross necklace
A journal that could be used as a prayer journal

I agree with a special Catholic Bible, or you could do a special rosary (I have one that is unopened real rose buds that were preserved and shelacked (sp?), a nice cross necklace, a book of prayers, a medal that might mean something special to her and her life.

When my niece was confirmed (she was 15 or 16), my SIL gave her a charm bracelet. The charms were engraved with the dates of her baptism, first confession, first communion, and confirmation. It was just a cool gift, and I plan to do that for my girls.

You might just want to go to a Christian book store and look around. They have lots of stuff besides books, although some of those might be appropriate, too. When DS was confirmed, he received some devotional and inspirational books written especially for teens. The staff there might also have some suggestions.

Here's another idea... if she's the type who likes figurines, there are some nice Hummels or Precious Moments items...

Thanks for all of the great ideas. I really like the idea of the charm bracelet and I'm about to do some research and see if I can find one like that. If anyone knows of a good source, let me know!
Thanks again,
Terri
