Seems I get to do a bit of travelling overseas this year! :D So far, trips to West Virginia, Marseilles, and London are already planned, and my friends seem to be getting married left and right! ;) My only set of luggage is a cheap set from quite a while ago that I'm not interested in reusing.

My ideal set would:
- have a rolling upright case that isn't GIGANTIC
- possibly come in something more interesting than black :)
- be available on amazon.com (since I have a GC to spend there)
- be lightweight so the weight limit wouldn't restrict me too much when packing

Anyone have any suggestions?

I have Samsonite rolling suitcases (7 years old) and love them. I see Amazon has a selection. MIne is a 31" I think (possibly 28), softside. I like the soft side because you can squish a lot more in there than seems humanly possible.
This suitcase (http://www.amazon.com/Samsonite-Sahora-Brites-Spinner-Upright/dp/B000ILDZEY/sr=1-69/qid=1171830238/ref=sr_1_69/103-8696016-2474223?ie=UTF8&s=apparel) is cute, but may be a little small for your purposes.
ooh, it comes larger. (http://www.amazon.com/Samsonite-Sahora-Brites-Spinner-Upright/dp/B000ILDZJE/sr=1-88/qid=1171830340/ref=sr_1_88/103-8696016-2474223?ie=UTF8&s=apparel)
Mine are like this (http://www.amazon.com/Samsonite-Silhouette-Softside-Expandable-391xxx103/dp/B000EGB7KM/ref=pd_sbs_a_4_img/103-8696016-2474223) but basic black (bad choice...do you know how many black Samsonites are out there??)

Another vote for Samosonite here, mine is old (8-10 years at least) and I love it. It's Hunter Green so it's as old as when that was a popular color for everything :). If you get a carry on, you may want to look for one that can expand, I've found that when I have to fly, I use it un-expanded (is that a word?), but when I am traveling by car for a weekend, it's great to have the option to expand it and get a little bigger without lugging out the big case I also have.

Have fun on all those trips :)

If you can afford it, Tumi is the way to go. We have a Tumi garment bag that's about 10 years old. It's in very good condition. My husband has used a Tumi brief, literally, every work day for the past 11 years and it still looks new. Tumi will make most repairs for free and will ship your repaired luggage to you.

I love love LOVE our Kirkland suitcases (http://www.costco.com/Browse/ProductSet.aspx?Prodid=11102092&search=luggage&Sp=S&Mo=8&cm_re=1-_-Top_Left_Nav-_-Top_search&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&N=4294966372&whse=BC&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=All&Dr=P_CatalogName:BC&Ne=5000001+4000000&D=luggage&Ntt=luggage&No=2&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Nty=1&topnav=&s=1) from Costco. They're not available on Amazon (obviously), but they are cheap, durable, and lightweight. Ours have been used and abused on many business trips (easily over 100) over the past 3 years, and are still in good shape. I bought a light blue color so I could find it a little easier when I check it, but I must say that the black one hides dirt and looks a lot better, even though it is older and used more often...

Another vote for Tumi. I have used many other brands (including LLBean and Eddie Bauer) and have found that Tumi is by far superior.

Lands End has great luggage that comes in a variety of different colors. I received a bright orange suitcase and carry-on from them for Christmas this year. It's a bit pricy, but I imagine it will hold up quite well.

I got the largest size suitcase, but they have at least three different sizes.
