Anybody else watching? I really think it is great show... but apparently NBC is thinking about cancelling... a new show is taking over it's timeslot next Monday at 10pm.... what do ya all think?

I love the show! Though I haven't watched last night's episode yet so I hope there aren't any spoilers coming up...
Maybe they're just trying out a new show in a good time slot (I was furious when Studio 60 took Medium's slot).

I really like this show - I'm a big fan of Aaron Sorkin's writing style. I haven't seen this week's show yet, but I am hoping they don't get Matt too into drugs...that would be an annoying turn of events, IMO.

Are you referring to Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? I really wanted to fall in love with this program! I hoped it would be as good as West Wing, since it had the same writers, but it just hasn't lived up to the hype. It's a pleasant program, but it just didn't develop, imo... I just never really cared about the characters that much! 30 Rock is about the same type of program, and I think it's a little better. I tivo both of them, and watch them, but I won't be devastated when either of them is gone...

I love this show - the writing is superb. They haven't decided yet to officially cancel it (see here (http://glitterandgossip.blogspot.com/2006/11/studio-60-gets-slight-reprieve.html)) - fingers crossed.
I also really like Brothers & Sisters, especially the addition of Rob Lowe.

I like this show a lot more now than when it first started. Seems like they've got some better writers in for the skits for the show within the show and are getting better at making that part more believable, and the writing for the whole show seems a lot smoother. All the actors seem to have settled into their characters and I even like Amanda Peet's performance now (I thought she was terribly miscast at first).
Hope they don't cancel it as I think it's just starting to be really good!

I really wanted to like this show, but after watching 4-5 episodes I lost interest. I think Aaron Sorkin is incredibly talented, but he can also be a big blowhard. IMO this show comes off as one big Aaron Sorkin rant about all that he thinks is wrong with the entertainment industry, which is a bummer because he has a great cast.
The TV columnist in our local paper wrote last week that the show airing in Studio 60's time slot was always going to do so, but that it's happening several weeks earlier than previously announced, which he says doesn't bode well for Studio 60. We'll see if he's right when they announce renewals and cancellations, I guess...
So, I guess what I'm saying is that I don't mind if it's canceled, but I'd still be interested in future Sorkin shows. I loved The West Wing. :)

I love this show. I am a HUGE Sorkin Fan...I loved the West Wing.
For those who watched WW and watch Studio 60 - did anyone catch the Gage Whitney law firm reference last night? Gage Whitney was the law firm that Sam Seaborn (WW) worked for before joining the Bartlett campaign...I know, I'm a geek!:D

Like some of the others, I watched the first 4-5 episodes but I never became a fan...even though I really wanted to like this show.

Hmm. Not looking good for Studio 60... San Francisco Article (http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/02/19/GOODMAN.TMP). I do think the show has gone downhill since it switched focus to a romantic comedy. But I've still enjoyed it- the schtick with the baby last night was really funny, as was the snake under the stage, imo. But they could do so much more. It really is a great cast, too bad it didn't stay strong.
I caught the Gage-Whitney reference last night. :)
And btw... Sam Seaborn under the alias of Senator McAllister is running for president on Brothers & Sisters.

Oh dear... it sure doesn't sound very promising for the show (or my taste I guess:rolleyes: )... I did like it and thought that Matthew Perry was very good.. ah well....

I really wanted to like this program more than I do as Sorkin is talented and I loved West Wing.
West Wing was just so much smarter -- there were "b" stories but the main thrust was always about the workings of the government and the "dramedy/romantic stuff propelled the story and was ancillary to it.
I find both couples incredibly tedious and unbelievable -- I KNOW Harriet is loosely based on Chenowyth's relationship with Sorkin but I the obsessive nature as pictured is ridiculous -- as is the stupid relationship between the pregnant network head and Whitford -- yeah right. I want to shoot all four of them and put them out of their misery.
30 Rock (FWIW) does SNL WAY better and Sisters and Brothers does soap opera human relationships better also.

Exactly this. I so wanted to like it since I generally love anything Aaron Sorkin does. I think I have every episode of "Sports Night" memorized, for example. But I could only make it through about the first 4 episodes of Studio 60.

I loved Sports Night. Didn't realize that was Sorkin as well...

Yep. We've got the DVDs. The movie, "An American President" was also Sorkin. It's one of our favorites.

I love this show as well, but HATE Harriet. I don't know if it's the actress or the character, but I just don't see anything that Matthew Perry's character would find appealing about her and be so madly in love. So every time she's on, I change the channel or mute it.

I alluded to my feelings about her and the relationship in my previous post. Not only do I not understand his obsession with her (and Luke's), I also have yet to see the "talent" that was supposed to give her astonishing star power.
Kristin Chenowyth is adorable and charismatic but her Studio 60 counterpart is grating.
I also don't understand how they can even STAND EACH other -- given her Bible thumping and his atheism. In real life Sorkin/Chenowyth had a relationship but based on her interviews with Chenowyth she is much more of a mainstream Christian than Harriet -- including having a COMPLETELY unambivalent acceptance of homosexuals.

Oh my goodness, I'm glad it's not just me. When they kept on going on and on about how talented and gorgeous, and what a muse she was  I didn't see it at all!! I think it's partly because of the character, which I find very unappealing, partly the actress but mostly a case of gross miscasting. It doesn't bother me quite as much, as I was determined not to let it get in the way of enjoying the show. As I said in a post above, I also felt that Amanda Peet was miscast (way too young, among other things) but she's found her way and I am quite enjoying her now.

It took me a while to get "into" this show, but since I enjoyed TWW so much I kept at it. Now it's really the only tv show that holds my attention. And count me among those who caught the Gage Whitney reference!
Sorkin wrote An American President? I'll have to rent it. I love his writing style.
