They have this ziplock seal built into them which is a great idea BUT the way they fold the bag over and seal it, the bag ALWAYS rips when I take it off.

Lol. Having worked in a deli I can tell you that the reason that is done is to make a smaller package- holding your slices of meat together and preventing them from turning into shreds and pieces before you even get home. Some of the more delicate meats like turkey breast and chicken breast are notorious for that.
On a safety level, it also keeps your meat from being tampered with. Say you wander from your cart for a second, the last thing you want is someone reaching over into your cart and helping themselves to a munch from your deli meat.
Sorry it bothers you though, maybe you could complain to the deli, because it sounds like their stickers are heavy duty, and maybe they could look into getting ones with a lighter stick.

I have posted gripes here before about the zip lock bags. Not so much the deli bags but the pre-packaged deli meats. They are harder to open than a bank vault sometimes! I sometimes get so frustrated, I cut them open with a scissors and put them in another bag!
Sometimes I have bought things from the deli and they were in the little zip lock bags. I've gotten them home and they were folded over with the price sticker holding them shut, but they were not zipped! Now, if I hadn't noticed, and just tossed them in the fridge, how long, do you suppose, would that deli meat stay fresh??
I wonder if any "execs" from the larger supermarket chains every check out these boards for comments like these? They should! They might learn something!
