The weather is awful this morning ... icy rain. My thoughts go to the areas in the South hit by the deadly tornadoes.
I'm off to the gym in awhile and then later today I have an interview for a part-time job and a phone screening for a "real" full-time job. :p
Tomorow is the big Boston Klatch. Woohoo!!! And on Sunday we're going to the in-laws for brunch. SIL from Philly is in town. Lots of eating this weekend, which I'll think about when I'm struggling through the circuit training class. Ughhh!!!

Hi Lauren. :)
Good luck with the job interviews!
And have fun at the klatch too - I have yet to meet anyone here IRL! Sounds like fun!
Yucky day here too, though thankfully, no ice (highs near 50 today) - just lots of rain - over an inch. I'm glad it's warm - this amount of rain would have been quite a bit of snow!
No subbing for me today and thank goodness. I have a hard time turning down work when it comes my way, but I really needed the day off to get ready for my in-laws who arrive later this afternoon. They are coming for a county-wide band concert that my DS is participating in - each middle school selected 10-20 or so students to participate and DS was one of them.
So that's our weekend - a visit from the in-laws and a band concert. These visits are always interesting at the very least - my FIL has Alzheimer's and something happens just about every visit. I know his behavior is not his fault, but I sort of dread these visits and then I feel guilty............ :(
Stay warm and dry everyone. :)
Hi Lauren and Alysha!
Lauren - have fun at the Boston klatch! Hope you guys take lots of pictures!
Alysha - have a good weekend with the ILs. Have fun at the concert! What instrument does he play?
As Alysha said, it's rainy here today, but pretty warm, thankfully.
DH has been in Atlanta all week, so he gets home tonight around midnight. He leaves again on Monday, so we'll probably just take it easy this weekend. Sara's Girl Scout troop has a trip to Hershey tomorrow, so she'll be gone all day. It'll probably just be a nice, lazy weekend for us.
Have a good weekend everyone!
Lauren

Alysha - I subbed twice this week ... in a 1st grade class and a kindergarten class. They are so cute! If I get the job at Le Cruset, I'll see which I like best and then go with that until I get the "real" job. The subbing gig is good because I don't have to stand up all day and weekends won't be required. But then there are the kids .... ;)
I hope the weekend with your in-laws is uneventful. Enjoy the concert!!!
Sue - Enjoy your low key weekend with your DH. He must be so tired when he comes home from travelling all week. And ready for some of your good home cooking!

Hey everyone...
I think the weather just about sucks everywhere today...I'm working from home today because there is a big storm in Montreal today...we're expecting 20-30cm of snow today ....our pup is loving it though, he's bouncing around in the yard and trying to eat the snowflakes - too cute! As long as someone's enjoying the snow, right? :)
Not much going on this weekend either because of all the snow...will probably bring Biscuit to the dog park both days and I'll probably bake up something but it should be another quiet lazy weekend....woo hoo! :D
Lauren, good luck at your interview...we'll keep our fingers crossed for you!
Alysha, hang in there this weekend with the in-laws...have fun at the concert though!
Sue, have a great lazy weekend!

I'm jealous of all the Boston Klatches ;)
Sounds like you all have great weekends in store- have a great time!
As for me, I'm working (as usual). Unfortunately, the weather doesn't stop :) And after the storms that moved across the midwest and SE this past week, it should be busy. May end up working a double shift tomorrow as well- seems as if the FLU is going around the office AGAIN! Luckily, I haven't caught it it. Spending 16hrs at the office certainly makes a Saturday fly by!
DBF is participating in some crazy competition this week sponsored by his MBA program. They solve problems for a company, and if that said company chooses to use their solutions, they are rewarded. Payoff here: A trip to Arizona. I'm pulling for him and his teammates!
Happy Weekend Everyone- do something fun for me :D

It is really wet here (thankfully) but just a bit out of the city it has been just ice. I hope everyone who's flying in today for the klatch doesn't get too delayed.
I can't believe tomorrow's the klatch. It seems like we've been planning it forever. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone I've already met and really excited to meet people I haven't yet met!
Sunday, Erin and I might go into town to tour the JFK aircraft carrier that's docked in Boston. I'm interested in seeing such a huge ship (it holds 85 airplanes!). They said the tour is about an hour.
Lauren - you do have a big eating weekend! :D As for me, I've run out of WW points  and I don't weigh in until Saturday morning so I am trying to take it super easy today. Lots and lots of water and trying not to think about food (while planning next week's menu  ).
Alysha - I hope your weekend goes well. That's wonderful about DS being picked to be in the concert.
Sue - is the Hershey theme park nice or hokey? We've never been and I've always been curious (being a great Hershey fan! :D )
Erin - I wish I had the option to work at home. I do, really, but it's frowned upon and I hate that. This is 2007 and most employers are getting so much more flexible - depending on your job of course. But I have a desk job and am able to access the company servers from home so it should be a bit easier than it is.
cumulus - good luck to your DH!

I agree with you totally! I have a desk job, I prepare the invoicing and do project support for project managers and all the information I need is on the server so why shouldn't I be able to work from home once in awhile...of course, I don't abuse it but on a day like today when there is a snowstorm it's so nice to have this luxury! Not all bosses have the same mentality about working from home though...it's all about trust and visibility for clients/customers...I wasn't able to work from home until they hired a director of finance last year and he became my new boss...I was working directly for the president before and there was NO WAY he was going to let me work from home...I never understood it because all the engineers do it and a couple days a week at that! It's so unfair that admin/hr/accounting employees almost never have the same priviledges....

Good morning everyone!
We're drowning here in Philadelphia as well, it was not a pleasant walk from the train today!
Lauren, good luck with the job interviews. I'm still waiting to hear back from the job I interviewed at two weeks ago and I'm beginning to get very nervous that I haven't heard back!
Alysha, enjoy your in-laws and at least you aren't living with them and they eventually have to go home!
Sue, hope you have a nice relaxing weekend!
Erin, enjoy working from home, that is a nice luxury! Enjoy the snow!
Loren, Hershey is actually quite nice, though it's been awhile since I've been.. Have fun at the Klatch!!
Cumulus, good luck to your DH!!
Well, we are headed up to Central PA this weekend to visit family and friends. DH is looking for a new work truck since his died last week so we'll also see what my dad and brother can dig up.

Morining Everyone sounds like they've thought about the weekend plans. I haven't. DH has been in a continuing education class since wed in DC and will be home tomorrow am. So we're planning a laid back weekend. If the weather holds we may drive to MD to eat crabs if they have them.
I was going to work in the yard, but allas that storm and tons of rain last night nixed that, unless I put on wellies and a wet suit. LOL
Everyone have fun at the Boston Klatch, it does sound good. From another board that I belong to we are planning a get-together in LasVegas in Sept. It's all Dog Lovers and we've been cyber friends for 5 yrs.
Well need to do some work here at the office, later, Wanda

Yum! I grew up outside of Baltimore and love love love steamed crabs with bay seasoning. No other place can make crabs, crab cakes and anything else crab like Maryland.
Linsley - good luck with DH's truck!

Erin - Biscuit must be so cute in the snow! Molly loves trying to eat/catch the snowballs the boys throw.
cumulus - Hope you get some r&r this weekend. Good luck to DBF!
Loren - See you tomorrow. ;)
linsleyd - Isn't it annoying how companies bring you in and then all of a sudden there isn't any urgency to make a decision? Several companies have just left me hanging for weeks. :( Have fun this weekend!

He's hilarious...we have so much snow that all you see is his head above the snow now...he's not jumping around anymore, he's just plowing through it! :D I wish I had a video camera!

Erin (my Erin!) loves to take our 2 cats out in the snow. She gets a big kick out of them being so careful to pick up their feet in a prissy way and shake the moisture off with every step. We haven't had enough snow at any time this year for their annual snowplaying. They are truly miserable - they're cold *and* wet - the 2 worst things cats can be! :D

Well...the weather on the left coast is a beautiful sunny (but COLD) morning. I had to scrape the ice off the windshield at 7:15 this morning. But we are supposed to have a really nice weekend...and after a week of rain, I'm ready for it.
I'm working today from 10:30 to 5:45, then tomorrow the boys have their practice Track & Field meet. I'm suppose to work the discus event...but as of yesterday, they don't have a net so they can't throw discus.
I'm working Saturday afternoon and evening and then again on Sunday. Time management is going to become a crucial life skill for me.
Lauren - good luck with the interviews.
Loren - enjoy the Klatch

Well, I got a call around 9ish that SIL is coming too! She is very lucky that it's a Friday during Lent and I had a vegetarian meal planned - she's vegetarian and I often cook meat for my MIL because FIL doesn't care for most meats and she doesn't get to cook or eat it at home! Tomorrow I had planned panini, so SIL can have a veggie version of what we're having. Phew! I'd have been a little stressed if I had thawed a big old chunk of meat to then be told I had a veg coming for dinner. :) It's not easy to run last minute trips to the store for a change when you live out a ways..........
Alysha - have a good weekend with the ILs. Have fun at the concert! What instrument does he play?
Hi Sue. He plays the alto saxophone. I had been wondering if he was good - hard to tell when someone's learning an instrument - but I guess his getting picked means he's doing well. :) Enjoy time with your DH before he heads out again.
But then there are the kids .... ;)
Uh yeah, sometimes I really, really want a job that involves all adults and no kids, but then again, I really do love the kids. Most of them. ;) And I think that people who work with the wee ones just tend to have nice personalities in general. Not always of course, but I think I have found a larger number of sweet and patient people in elementary schools than in other places. :) Good luck with the job decisions, etc.
I can't believe tomorrow's the klatch.
Have fun! I can't wait to hear all about it!
We're drowning here in Philadelphia as well, it was not a pleasant walk from the train today!
The sun is out here! Not nearly what they were calling for - I don't know if this will change or if it all just went south to you all. I might actually get Bailey out for a walk on a pretty warm day!
Maybe you'll drive out of the wetness on your way up this way.......
So we're planning a laid back weekend. If the weather holds we may drive to MD to eat crabs if they have them.
Mmmm...enjoy! DH and I are SO going to have to do that one of these days - we're not all THAT far from the Bay.......
Hello to everyone else! :)
I've got more cleaning to do and one extra bed to make up. It's Lent, so I didn't really plan any appetizers or desserts or anything........feels kinda strange.

Howdy,
Hate to be a downer but so far, my day kinda sucks. It is rainy and dreary in NYC today. We woke up this morning to no heat, then I had to wait 30 minutes on a windy subway platform when it should only take 5 minutes.
To add insult to injury, one of my managers is being an absolute Miss and have to hold my hands behind my back to stop from strangling her. She is 20 years older than me but I feel like I am babysitting for a pouty, spoilt 4 year old.
What has kept me up is looking forward to finishing work so I can go pound it out in the gym for a while and then meet up with DBF and ruin all my hard work by stuffing my face with delicious BBQ before going to see Zodiac at the cinema. :)

Lauren -- Enjoy the klatch! Sounds like fun! And good luck with the interviews!
Alysha -- no feeling guilty! Even if his behavior isn't his fault, it can still be upsetting to you... As Linsley said, at least they don't live with you! Congrats to your son, and enjoy the concert!
Sue -- Enjoy the time with DH! I remember when my DH was travelling like that -- it was so hard to include him in everyday life, when he was just home on the weekends!
Erin -- glad you could work from home, and that Biscuit is keeping you laughing! Post the recipe for whatever you bake -- even though I'm not keeping up with your recipes, I love having all the options! ;)
Cumulus -- good luck to DH! Don'tcha just hat when people think they're so important that they have to come to work ill, and spread it around? Sorry about that migraine you had (other thread) and glad it's over... do you get them often?
Loren -- Have fun at the klatch! Maybe someday I can meet some of the folks here IRL -- if I ever get to SF again, I might look up Canice -- she only lives about 8 blocks from DD1
Linsley -- have a great trip... and take your umbrella!
Wanda -- enjoy your no-plan or crab eating weekend. Sometimes they're the best!
So, Tyra -- how is it working at Target? Sounds like you're getting lots of hours! I'm fairly new to shopping there, but it sounds like you're valued!
Well, Miss Liss -- sorry your day is going so badly! All the physical activity will surely make you feel better! Nothing like exercise to relieve stress, they say!
I think my weekend will be great! DH is going to Birmingham to help a friend move some stuff down here for his mother, so I get to make bagels, make cookies for church fellowship, and go out to lunch and dinner! Tonight, we're receiving our new tanker for the fire department, and there's a country singin' and pickin' at the fire department! I've never been, but now that it's right here, I'll have to go see what it's all about! DH being gone tomorrow will give me time to watch some of the 30 or so episodes of Star Trek: Voyager that Tivo has been saving for me! Woohoo! And that leaves Sunday! Pizza night, I think! :D :D
We were very grateful not to have suffered any of the really bad weather that swept parts of Alabama!

Goodness, I did sound like a bit of a moaning mona!! :o A moment of sheer frustration and not my usually fairly positive thinking self. Luckily, the manager in question has left for the day so calm has swept through the office. The lady sitting next to me has provided M&Ms. I am wondering if I am evil because I had a little smile when I learnt the pouty manager left early for the dentist?? :D
Hope you all have fabulous weekends!!!

"Might"? "might"? Well, well, well. ;)
Sami's DD used to live near me. She was out visiting but I don't remember why I missed her.
Anyhow, hope everyone has a blast. I thought of going but then we were to be in DC this weekend. The weather freaked DBF out, and he cancelled. :p It's gorgeous here today, I was out and about at lunch time in a t-shirt and it was about perfect. Maybe tomorrow would be a good day to hit the farmers' market. Need to get all my fixes before Memorial Day since it's a zoo down there in the summer.
DBF called yesterday and said something I don't think many women hear from the men in their lives, "Let's get manicures and pedicures on Saturday" LOL. Actually, I'd been telling him I thought he'd really enjoy a pedicure, and the other night he said, "look at my hands...." We'll see if he goes through with it.
Erin, can you post pictures of Biscuit out romping?
Enjoy the movie, Miss Liss! I remember once when I was little kid walking through a bad neighborhood with my older sister. She thought she'd get me moving my slow-poke butt by saying, "I just saw the Zodiac killer -run!" Talk about ways to motivate a six year old.
It's 3:00 and nothing going on here, so I think I'll shove off. (Drat, now I wish I hadn't changed my mind about making crab cakes tonight!)

All-righty then! I'll look for you down on Fillmore Street!! ;) See you at The Grove. If I'm not too busy ;) .
And BTW, indeed DBF did go through with his plan that we should have manicures and pedicures today, lol. I chickened out on the pedi because I don't like them, but he heroically climbed into the spa chair and submitted himself to the Foot girl and the Hand girl, and tried to look nonchalant when the women around him smiled empathetically, and my own manicurist asked, "Dat you husban? Very nice man."
What a sport.... :)
