I have a flat top range and I'm looking for a way to clean it. I bought that flat top range cleaner stuff, but it's ineffective in getting the ring of boiled over water off. Any tips?
Also, Glad Press n Seal. Anyone use this? I'm kinda spooked by the thought of the adhesive touching my food. Someone tell me it's okay because I really dig the concept of the stuff, and I like how well it works, but..... glue. on. my. food. Yikes.
My sister uses a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and it works great.
As for the Press N Seal, sorry, I can't help there!

soaking the "ring" in vinegar might help as well... (assuming that the ring is made up of some minerals that are found in the water)...

It has adhesive on it?? I have used it for years and I thought it was more like plastic velcro, but I could be wrong. I don't see anything on the box though to suggest it has an adhesive. Hmmm....

TY Kim & Muriel.
And Laura - I like the plastic velcro angle. I'm just guessing that it has some sort of glue on it because it's all sticky. I really like the stuff, though.

I put the cleaner on the cooktop, let it dry and then scrape it off with a razor. This does a good job of scraping off the gunk!

I thought it was wicked bad to scratch at the flat top? That's why I've been using my weak cleaning tools - softy sponge, soft special cleanser stuff, etc.
If I could use a scouring sponge, I'd be a lot happier.

A scouring pad would be a very bad idea. That would really scratch up the glass. With a razor blade scraping at an angle, you can scrape off any goo without scratching the glass. That's what my appliance repair guy suggested. The razor blade will take off most stains. You can also use a plastic putty knife for more mild scraping.

I use all 3 things! The ceramic cleaner and a plastic scrubbie/sponge, as well as the razor blade knife! My cooktop is spotless! It does take some elbow grease, though, and cleaning at least once a week!;)

Press n Seal uses a long-approved foodsafe adhesive PLUS texture to create the seal:

Also, Googling "press n seal" and "press n seal" +safety came up with NO warnings through the first 5 or 6 pages of hits, even by the lunatic fringe that always finds some potential threat from anything and everything.
My stove cleaned up beautifull with my new favorite friend white vinegar. It's enamel and I guess some of kind of glass between the burners.
I have a roll of press and seal that I bought awhile ago. It's kinda expensive, so I don't really use it too often.
