My DH drinks wine with dinner almost every night and has for quite some time. We just have generic not fancy wine glasses that I throw in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes. A couple of nights ago DH complained that his wine glass had an off taste to it. It's the first time he's ever mentioned it. Is there something different I should be doing? I hope it's not too involved or else he can drink his wine from a Dixie cup! Thanks for the help!

Maybe your dishwasher isn't rinsing them well? Also, when I use the dishwasher if I forget to take them out right after it's done and dry them then there is always a pool of water in them, if you've got that it may be harboring some detergent.

I always wash mine by hand, in very hot water.

Dishwashers + glass = leftover film no matter what (IMO :))

I agree, it's probably just a matter of rinsing them very thouroughly with very hot water.

I used to work for a wine company and when we'd do private tastings, I would have to wash all of the champagne glasses by hand  because even the tiniest bit of detergent ruins the bubbles.

I would still wash them in the dishwasher and give them a good rinsing by hand afterward.

We always wash our wine glasses by hand. Or I should say I wash our wine glasses - DH has always avoided this chore and after Sunday evening, I will never let him wash another wine glass for the rest of his life! He decided he would help me out by washing his wine glass. Apparently, he put too much pressure on it and it broke in his hand. This resulted in a mad dash to the ER, #10 stitches in his index finger, #10 days of antibiotics, a tetanus shot and he is basically out of commission for 14 days until the stitches come out. What a nightmare!!!

Peggy - Oh no! Talk about putting alot of effort into avoiding a chore;) Hope he's on the mend quickly.

We also hand wash all wine (and martini) glasses:)

I have my everyday wine glasses that get used everyday that go in the dishwasher.

Then I have my Riedels which do not.
