I recently made the mint cheesecake, but could not find the creme de menthe chocolaty mint thins for the recipie, so I used thin mint Girl Scout cookies. It was delicious. I still wonder what candy or cookies they are talking about. I searched high and low. If any one knows what they are please let me know. Thanks, Stephanie
I think they are talking about those rectangular candies with a layer of chocolate and a light green mint layer....similar to what they have at Olive Garden. They are made by Anddes and come in a rather small box (about the size of a checkbook but a little thicker) usualy wrapped in green plastic.

maybe you could substitute "snackwell's mint cremes"?

How about those thin mints -- the round ones that they sell in the grocery store candy section? (like miniature York patties, only thinner)
The Andes mints are smaller and have a milder mint flavor than the patties. I happened to have a box I bought after my sons were heartbtoken that Olive Garden was out of mints one night. I managed to hide them for so long I forgot about them. Looks like there are 28 in a 4.67 oz. box, so you can figure what's near the same. Doesn't sound like this uses enough to be a critical factor. The junior mints they used in brownies would probably also work.
