I haven't received my March issue yet so I sent an email to Customer Service and I get a reply saying my subscription had been stopped for lack of payment! I don't keep the paper covers but do know that my subscription doesn't end until Nov of either this year or '08. I've never received a renewal notice!!!! I am so P. O. right now I may ot ever renew my subscription...what a rip-off!!!!!!!

Yikes! Sounds like somebody's made a mistake. How frustrating. I hope things get resolved quickly. I can understand how irked you must be.

Did you subscribe directly through CL or through another service? I can't blame you for being po'd! Of course, since they now have all their recipes online it doesn't create a lot of motivation for you to track down their mistake.

I'd be mad too. You can check your subscription online, so even if you don't keep the covers, you can get answers. I check all my subscriptions from time to time, just to make sure the are accurate.

I did that and it also shows it's expired. I've no recourse at all I guess but Robyn's right it's not really a big problem since all the online stuff is now available but I've always enjoyed reading from cover to cover...

I subscribed through a school magazine sales program but I've never let my subscription lapse...I'm just mad because I do believe that I've paid for those issues that I'll not be getting.

What a pain!! :(

How did you pay for it? Could you go back through bank/credit card statements to find a transaction/check information to prove when you paid for it?

I just got a notice saying my subscription expires next month & that if I didn't renew by the 23rd I'd miss issues.
Well, I KNOW positively I didn't get any renewal reminders before! Excuse me, but what magazine doesn't send out 5-6 renewal reminders starting 8 months before your expiration date?? So I wouldn't take it personally, sounds like some names fell thru the cracks somehow.

All I can think of is that I had been doing a gift subscription for someone else at xmas and that often has a self renewal connected but I didn't do it this year & maybe that somehow affected getting a regular renewal notice.

I'm sorry to hear that Susan. I've given up on buying subscriptions through those kinds of promotions, I've never had anything but trouble. :( Which is sad because I think it prevents a lot of people from buying and helping the schools.

Well at least you got that notice! It's also nice to know I'm not the only one.

Wow, CL is really having subscription issues. My mom used to get my sister and I gift subscriptions. They never sent her, or us, a notice this past year. So, we let it lapse. Their loss.

They must have very erratic practices. I let my subscription lapse on purpose, and not only did I get a number of renewal notices, but they telephoned me with a renewal pitch--TWICE in the same week. I expect them to ring the doorbell next.

I got my mother a gift subscription last year and charged it on my credit card. They automatically renewed her gift and charged my credit card again. Not that I care because it's my mother but the point is it was a gift. Not to be renewed automatically under any circumstances. They sent a note to my mother saying her subscription was automatically renewed. When she called to say it was a gift, that I (her daughter) should not be charged again they indicated I signed up for the automatic renewal for her. When she pushed she did not want the renwal they cancelled her exisiting subscription which still had 2 months left. They need to get their act together on subscriptions or they are going to loose a lot of people.

I agree. I am so mad that I am torn with not renewing my subscription. I don't like they way they handle customer service but *I LOVE* the magazine. And love getting it each month and rushing to try many of the recipes. What to do?

This seems to be an issue with most magazine subscription services. I've had horrible problems with Southern Living and Martha Stewart Living. I've decided that the only magazine subscriptions I'm going to keep (in spite of the problems in the above posts) are Cooking Light and Eating Well.

I'll buy individual issues on the stands as they strike my fancy. I'm just tired of dealing with customer service people that couldn't give a da*n.
