Argh.

Things have turned ugly with the landlord where DF is currently living, so he's given 30 days notice. We're now trying to get him moved out and moved on. While taking boxes out of the unit last night, we noticed some scratches to the wood laminate near the couch. We're not sure we caused them, but we're trying to give the landlord as little leverage as possible.

Any suggestions for how to fill them in/get them out? A couple are pretty deep.

TIA!
Sarah

I would just get one of those pens that are for coloring in scratches in wood.

Ugh. Landlords can be great--or they can be awful. Seems like yours is the latter. Sorry about that.

They do make something called finishing putty for repairing small scratches or filling holes. You might have to contact the manufacturer for a match, I'm not sure. But if I were you, I'd just ask your local hardware store or Home Depot. They likely have something you could use. Short of that, I wonder if some kind of car wax might work? Just a thought.

Good luck. I hope your DF doesn't get burned for the scrathes. If a landlord is going to put scratchable flooring in a rental, they need to know it's going to get damanged.

THe landlord has turned suddenly. She's trying to sell the house, and we think she's taking her frustration about its not moving out on him. Her note this weekend was to "watch out with the bedframe that it doesn't move and scratch the floor", so we've put corrugated cardboard under the feet. But when we went looking around at the condition of the floor, we found some scratches  we don't even know if we caused them. Bleh.
