Form a Supper Club: St. Paul, Woodbury, MN

Is anyone interested in forming a supper club in the St. Paul/Woodbury area?

I live in St. Paul and I am interested. Quite a few messages about a Twin Cities club went back and forth a while ago, but I don't think anything ever materialized. Hopefully we'll hear from a few more people!

I am interested and currently live in Woodbury. Someone needs to volunteer to be the organizer or we'll never get this off the ground. I am currently renting and my place is not big enough to host the first one. But I can help with everything else.

One other person did reply. As soon as we have a total of 4 people, I will send out a note and we can talk about where we can meet.
The first meeting can take place in a coffee shop where we can work out details as to what we want. I plan on sticking with this and if we only have 3 people we can still make it work!

Cathy,

One other person who lives in St. Paul did respond. Lets wait a few weeks to see if at least one other person also replies. We can meet at a coffee shop for the first meeting to determine details and what we want to do. I can act as the organizer and host the first dinner.

Sounds like a good plan to wait a bit. Maybe some of the people that responded to us from the whole Twin Cities (back a few months) would be interested.

Karen mentioned she could meet one night next week. Are you available on Thursday, 3/15? Can you meet at Borders Bookstore & Cafe in Woodbury (Tamarack Village)? If Thursday doesn't work for you, what nights are ok?

Hi! I live in St Louis Park but would be willing to travel to St Paul for good food! I'll keep checking the site to see what materializes.

Last night we held the first organizing meeting for the St.Paul/Woodbury Supper Club. Karen and CathyR attended and took notes for Kathleen & Lisa & others. We decided to go ahead and get the ball rolling for the first meal. Hope everyone is ok w/our initial decisions! Here are the highlights:
- The first meal will be on Sunday, April 22nd at Noon at Kathleen's in Woodbury(assuming date works for Kathleen).
- First menu will be from the Jan/Feb 2001 issue. Chinese lunch of tea, sake?, Steamed Vegetarian Dumplings (pg. 112) and Sichuan-Style Stir-fried Chicken w/peanuts and rice(pg. 114).
- We're looking for the first meal to serve 4-10 people so please RSVP to this board with your email address & the number attending (bring friends!). We will email the group to finalize plans long before 4/22.
- We kicked around ideas of how best to allocate the grocery shopping. We will all share in the cost. Our current idea is for the host/hostess and 1-2 others split the grocery shopping, so the host isn't burdened w/everything and it doesn't get too complicated.
- We also decided to set the 3rd Sunday of each month as our standard get-together day for either lunch or dinner.
- Discussed ideas and meals for future dates: following Cooking Class section of Cooking Light, designing meals in honor of month's holiday or season, Thai, Tofu, pizzas, bread making, fajitas, seafood, ethnic dishes, etc...

That's about all. RSVP if you're interested in 4/22 Lunch.

Hi, I was just poking around in the boards and saw your post. I started a St. Paul club last summer and we are about to have our 12th meeting--our group has eight women. Maybe we could do a joint event sometime--or if you need any tips on organizing, we might be able to help.
