From the Southern Living BB! Have no idea which of their Gold Rules I've broken though. I received my official Generic email just a few minutes ago! I won't even be able to view the boards for one month...how will I ever survive?:p I've never been kicked out of someplace before...it's kinda of exciting!

Congratulations!

I've not been back since the major redoing of the boards a few years ago. I like it here much better.

The first thing I'd think of would be the negative comments you made here, along with a remark for people to PM you for information about some poster there. I mean, it is the same company, with a lot of the same posters.

But, really, Susan, you're a poor second to me :) , who was banned here once, and didn't even have the courtesy of a generic e-mail. Suddenly, POOF!, I just couldn't get in, and had to write to ask what was going on.

I looked over there just a bit ago and it looks like "The Thread" is gone. I'm sure you know that it was said that someone(s) from the CLBB was sending the PM's from here over to people on the SLBB.

So sorry for your loss. :D

To be fair, that board has had SO much trouble in the last few years ... remember when it shut down completely for a while? I don't blame them for having lots of rules and taking immediate action when they're broken, even if they seem overly restrictive to the rest of us.

Their rules don't apply to my trashing people on this site!:p And I didn't say anything derogatory! And besides that was ages ago!

And I'm sorry, Bob, I didn't know you were banned from here.:o

And did you respond, "I've been thrown out of nicer places!"? ;)

I've never been banned, but I did have a post edited as "unsuitable URL removed by moderator" on the BBC boards last night. (Well not last NIGHT, as they shut their boards down from midnight to 9:00 local time.) Check out how crazy I get over there:
A woman is coming to San Francisco for the first time. She's posting on their food board. She wants food-focused activities here. So I included the URL for the Ferry Plaza marketplace, which is all specialty food shops. My post sat there "hidden while being evaluated by moderators" for 12 hours until they decided the rest of the post could stand, but not the link.

Wasn't given a reason or a thread but found out someone else has been banned so it's at least the thread that mentions CLBB...which btw I provided the link for!
I think they need to get some real people in charge over there instead of the those who live in la-la land. They have waaaaayyyy toooo many rules!

Me too! But not for laughing at the underwear, it had more to do with a 3year old and a 1 1/2 year old hiding in a clothing rack and then the 3 year old running out with a piece of clothing on. It was suggested that it might be better for me to return without the children. I never did go back because it was a kind of a long way from Guam

Hi Sneezles and everyone---

I was banned one time from the Calorie Count website, and it seems to be a permanent thing! I think I'll register from a different mail account and see what's up over there. I'm telling you, if you think there are some certifiable maniacs on the SL site, you oughta take a look at the rabid folk on CC!

Being banned is probably a badge of honor---means you aren't afraid to be politically incorrect, cheeky, witty, satirical, and don't mind being an *agent provocateur!*

I don't believe it was that thread, Robyn. The suspect thread has been pulled and It's probably this rule that I broke since I did say the woman lies about things:

You may not make personal attacks, rude comments towards other users, SLBB moderators or staff members either in public forums, emails, or private messages.

Dear Squeaker,

Your comments in the thread “Ok” were rude towards admin. As stated below, we reserve the right to ban members or delete threads at our discretion.

Again, the ban will be automatically lifted in one month.

Best,

Well ... again ... that board has had things get way out of hand, so keep in mind their history is very very different from ours. I'm not defending anything anyone did on any side, I'm just saying that they have those rules in place for a reason, and you can't blame them for enforcing them. The point isn't what would or wouldn't be allowed on any other board ... it's what is allowed on THAT board. If they said you couldn't use the word PINK and you chose to use it, you can't holler if you're then reprimanded.

Go look over at the SLBB---at a thread called "What Is Your Age Range?" It's been closed by the AdminHeads, probably because---who knows!? There's some pretty cute stuff flying around there, maybe by some posters here? Who knows?

The Admin in charge, bless his heart (somehow it sounds like a young guy, maybe just out of college---?) is off to try and put more of Pandora's escapees back in the box, I reckon. Best of luck to him!

More than likely some member got her panties in a wad and went crying to Big Brother. Any thread that's the least bit amusing gets yanked. Of course, I'm just guessing since I'm not allowed over there but history does have a way of repeating itself. Wonder if anyone else got the boot today?

And running a tight ship doesn't mean it's being run well. If that were so we'd still be a colony...

Well, a BB is like a sorority, I suppose...they only want dewy-doe-eyed SINCERE girls who can cry and hug necks on cue! I was in a sorority (ooooh, won't say which because I'd be banned by "sisters" of this very snooty prestigious Greek group...) and let me tell you what, the happiest day of my life was when I got out of that chapter. The combination of saccharine and bile made for a pretty strange cocktail. The only fun I ever had was when we did skits for rush. We could kind of cut up then. Other than that, it was a little too much weeping, hugging, and "are we meeting our Chapter Standards?" kind of BS. Very educational: gave me a lifelong dislike of anything smacking of lockstep, toe-the-line, girly-group stuff.

I think the banned people from the SLBB should start a VERY EXCLUSIVE thread---only those who have been summarily dismissed from the site can post! The rushees would have to present evidence of their banned status, of course---you couldn't, of course, have just ANYONE try and post! Why, soon everyone would be trying to get in!

Oh my, you totally joined the wrong sorority! Yeah, I guess we had our share of the stupid stuff too, but the fun, friendship and hijinx certainly outweighed the gaggy stuff. :D ;)

Still, I couldn't remain involved with sorority alumni stuff after we left college because I felt absolutely no loyalty whatsoever to the sorority itself - it was those I made lifelong friendships with that made it meaningful - not the secret handshake or the supposed "meaning" of being an <insert sorority name here>.

As a non-SLBB, Bible-thumping (well, quietly! ;) more like tapping) biscuit maker (not a Barbie doll; would be nice!!), I've gotta say that this BB (CL), with its heated discussions, smart-aleck comments, and fabulous sense of humor, is tons of fun! :D :D :D Sounds like the SLBB could use a good loosening up. I still can't believe that sneezles, of all people, would get banned from *anything*! It's funny how many people have come over here from the SL and WW boards, saying that those folks have no sense of humor--the CL boards, with their looser rules (about discussions, not spam), are a real hoot and a great break in the day! Sneezles, it'll be interesting to see what kind of a reception you get on the SL BB when (if?) you return there.

I agree. I'm grown-up enough (and thick-skinned enough) to avoid the threads that don't appeal to me. My "cup of tea" may not be your's. As long as a post is not blatant spam or filled with really awful swearing ... it's fine with me. If the topic offends ... there's always that close button at the top of the screen.

Spirited discussion of topics can be interesting and if you stick around on one topic long enough, you may actually expand your point of view. I can remember quite a few threads where I though --- gee, I didn't think of that before.

In my opinion, the SLBB is going the same way as their magazine .... to white bread blah! Southern Living used to be one of my favorites, but now it's just a rehash of the same old, same old.

I hear ya! But sometimes it's lots more fun to *read* the threads that don't appeal to me, rather than to avoid them--very entertaining! :D And I agree about SL. I subscribed for years, but the recipe section has been shrinking, leaving fewer recipes (& repeats, it seems), and the quick-crafts decoration section (forgot the name) is really inane. It's like "SL for Dummies." Hard to believe that SL and CL come from the same company!

I just saw that THEY banned Stella4star! I used to log in just to read her stuff! Although sometimes I wondered if "she" was a gay man posing as a catty woman...in fact, I have accused a good (male) friend of mine, who just adores SL-type stuff, of being "Stella." He read some of the hilarious stuff over there (he also loves Kaler) and says he just WISHES it was him. He's going to register under the name Joan Crawford soon, he says, so be watching. I predict he'll get sent to "Cyberia" jail in, oh, about ywo posts. Maybe less! Maybe they'll love him, though, as long as he doesn't mention being g-a-y...he might fit right in over there, as he wants to come back in the next life as a Malibu Barbie.

Sneezles, which thread was that? I was out of town a few days and may have missed a thread, esp. if it was pulled altogether.

I agree with whoever said that following this stuff is better than a soap opera.

There's someone else over there that I suspect might be a guy in "e-drag"---user name references a famous herione in a southern novel and posted once that people say s/he looks like a young Elizabeth Taylor. That just didn't sound like something an actual woman would say. This person doesn't seem to be very humorous, though, so I'm probably wrong. S/he might just be an Administrator in disguise:):)???

Thanks, Sneeze. I'll go lurk and check it out. Really, though, I'm starting to yawn bigtime about those folks over there. Sorta like, "who cares?" y'know?

I do read the SL mag occasionally (at the gym, though, I'd never waste money on one at the grocery store, as it is SOOOOOO full of ads and so dumbed-down) and heres what I'm wondering...how does that wonderful sassy garden-writer, Steve Bender, manage to not get "banned"? He is actually funny, edgy, and non-Barbie. He should quit and go work for a more lively magazine, or write books, I think. If anybody out there knows him, tell him I said so!
