I know there are lots of Barbara Kingsolver fans here so I thought I'd share that she has a new book coming out in May. It is about her family's attempt to grow and raise most of their own food plus the bigger issue of buying food locally, sustainable agriculture etc..
Looks like it will very good.

You can read about it here:

Thanks for letting us know. I'm a big fan too and have been wondering what she's been doing lately.

I haven't read any of her work in years, but I used to be a big fan (the non-reading has nothing to do with her, just my schedule being so pinched for time). Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely check it out.

Wow...it's nonfiction. That should be a very interesting book to read.

YAY, I love non-fiction so I can finally see how good an author she is :)

Love Kingsolver and am not at all surprised as to the topic and her family's efforts to change their lifestyle.

WallyCat oh I do want to urge you to try at least one of Kingsolver's novels My recommendation would be The Poisonwood Bible. Some part of the story of that book speaks volumes to the subject matter in the upcoming non-fiction work.

I'm looking forward to this one a great deal. Thanks for the notice that it is on the way!

Loved Poisonwood Bible. And I'll read this one as well.

Omnivore's Dilemma will be hard to top imo.

The Poisonwood Bible was good, but I think Prodigal Summer is more about people desiring to lead a simpler life. I hated to say goodbye to the three main characters when I finished that book.

My favourite Kingsolver book is still the very first one I read-"The Bean Trees". One of my all time fav books.

Hmmm... I just finished reading Prodigal Summer. I really enjoyed this book, and the "message" behind the book. I personally though could have done without some of the uh, romantic interludes of Deanna. :o

The book definitely made me want to move to country property and begin organic farming and goat raising. :p
