View Full Version : How many of me?
This web site supposedly will determine how many people in the U.S. have a given name.
http://howmanyofme.com/
Kinda fun.
There are 121 me in the US!!!!!
But none quite as cute. :D :D ;)
230 of me! :D Only 58 of DD1, but 3,132 of DD2. And 6,634 of DH!! No wonder we are always getting calls from collection agencies!
That was fun!

According to this site there is no one in the US that has both my first and last name. There are 4,522 people with my first name and 2,442 with my last name, but 0 with the two together. Guess I am one of a kind :D

There aren't any of me, DH or our two boys!
It even says that is not ONE other person with the name Molli. I realize their data is only as good is what they were given, but I still find that hard to believe.
There are 3 people with my name and 1 of DH, but it says there is no one with my maiden name. I guess my whole side of the family doesn't exist! :p

There are 3,761 with my same name! How come I've never met them?

FYI - I don't believe that the information on that site is accurate. It says that there is no one in the US with my DH's name (first and last) and I know for a fact, that there are several.

There are 310,533 people with my first name, but no one with my last name. If I don't exist, do I still have to do my taxes?:D

Or charming! Don't forget charming! :D
I checked that out a month or two ago and it said no one else in the US had my first name. Some here might not be surprised, but it's waaaay wrong. There are a lot more Canice (http://www.cashel.anglican.org/cances.shtm)'s around than you'd think. Most are men (and a good number of them wear a white collar).

I find it hard to believe that the site is accurate. There are supposedly 7,537 Tyra's in the US and 3,678 with my last name. And I'm the only one with the combination (which I do believe).

I find it hard to believe that the site is accurate.
I hyphenate my last name so I did two searches: 1) first name, maiden name and 2) first name, DH last name. In BOTH cases they said that there were 49 other people with that combination and that BOTH last names were the
1664th most popular last name.

There are 0 people in the U.S. with the first name Jori.
This name is not found in our database, this means the name is relatively uncommon.
DD's name is Jori and I happen to know there are at least 2, in the US.... And the other posts on this board, as well.

It said there are 0 people in the U.S. with my last name. Obviously, this cannot be correct.

I think it is based on statistical probabilities. I put my name in and and it said there was 1 of me. DH's name resulted in 20 - but his first name is the 4th most popular. This is what I got when I put in DD's name:
There are 0 people in the U.S. named **** ********.While both names you entered were found in our database, neither was common enough to make it likely that someone in the U.S. has that name.
There are 310,533 people with my first name, but no one with my last name. If I don't exist, do I still have to do my taxes?:D
If that works, I think we'll change to my maiden name. Maybe we could retire earlier! :D
Fun to do, but maybe not so accurate. My ex-husband apparently doesn't exist either. :D
There are 5 of me with my maiden name and 12 of me with my married name.
There are 9 with my husband's full name. To tell you the truth, I though his name combination would be much more popular than that.

Yes, there's a problem...my husband's name comes up with 0 others, but his father and grandfather are alive, and he's a THIRD! So I know there are at least 2 others with same name...

Well, that proves it - I am truly unique! :D There are zero people in the U.S. with the same name as me!
What actually surprised me was that there are 3,015 people with the first name Micheline in the U.S. Not a very common name. Even here in Montreal, I only know 2 or 3 other people with the same first name.

The lady across the street from me is Micheline. She pronounces it Misha-lynn. Is that how you say your's?

66 of me. Shoot. And here I thought I was one-of-a-kind.

Huh. My last name isn't in their database, so according to them, there's only one me. I'm fine with that! :)

There's only me with first and last name... I am not sure I like being unique... Being a redheaded child was enough 'unique' for anyone!
And there are 754 people with my last name... That's not very many!
There are 2 with DD2's name, and 64 with DD1. DH is one of 3... We are a rare breed! :D

I'm guessing that it's probably more ballpark than superaccurate. My last name, for example, is exceedingly common (248,418) and my first name, not super-common but not unusual either(107,030). I think their estimate of 102 people with my first and last name is probably not too far off.
This could be an interesting site for parents who are naming a baby. I think I'll send it to my nephew and his wife who are expecting. On the other hand, his last name is so unusual that I was approaching middle age before I had ever spoken with someone outside by birth family who shared the last name.
Kay
Editing to add: I enjoyed this site so much that I sent it to my relatives. Thanks for sharing!

The site says that not all names are included. About 10% are not common enough to make the list. They explain it here (http://howmanyofme.com/faq/#section1) and even more fully here (http://howmanyofme.com/accuracy/). They don't mean the whole thing to be taken too seriously.
Q: How accurate is this program?
A: More accurate than a Magic 8-Ball. Less accurate than distributing and collecting 300 million surveys.

Thanks, Clover, for referring us to the FAQs. As I understand it, the likelihood of a person having a particular first and last name combination is mathematically derived, rather than using various databases, etc.
Kay
I did say supposedly!!! :D :D

Interesting! There are (statistically) 2166 people with my first and last name together, but that is not surprising since both my first and last name are quite common. But my son is statistically only 1 of 119!
