Today I did about 50 minutes of brisk walking on the TM. Hoping to get some yard work done, too, before the rain moves in.
What did you do today?

Today was the usual water aerobics, and what a workout! I think we did more Russian Dancing than they do in Russia! And all in the water...:p We kept our heartrates up, and the whole hour went by in a flash! :D
Who's next?

I just got back from a 30 minute run. I was already in my pjs on the couch when I talked myself into it. Quite amazing really. :)

Hi guys...I have never posted in this particular forum before (and I hope this is the correct place to post) but I am in need of some advice/help. I am in an exercise rut. I went from exercising to a really good DVD 4-5 days a week and walking most days to doing nothing other then my usual daily activities, minus the regular exercise! UGH!!!!
I do feel a bit overwhelmed with work/childcare issues but I do work from home so I do have great flexibility in when and how I work out. I would like to lose the few pounds I have put on before summer kicks in...any advice on how to get my butt in gear with the exercise? I eat well (not including the Easter candy which I would like to toss out:)...) but I definitely need to exercise on a regular basis...thoughts? How do you guys keep motivated and do it?
TIA...

As simple as it seems, posting on this thread is a great motivation tool for me. Knowing our regulars are usually in their corner of the country doing their own choices in working out is an incentive to me to do something so I can post.
Juggling work and kids is a tough thing. Probably the biggest thing is to just realize you're doing it for YOU! It's a pretty rare occurrence when I don't get to the gym at least 4 or 5 times a week. If it's less than that, I can almost immediately feel the sluggishness set in. For example, the gym had limited hours on Sunday, and I couldn't work the hours into my schedule. I ALWAYS go on Sunday morning so I really hated missing it. I rarely can go on Mondays and Tuesday because of school, etc. The last time I was there was Saturday. I went tonight and could really tell a difference.
With my schedule, I can't handle being sluggish. I'd rather figure out how to squeeze in a work out and be happy with it.
Good luck! Do it for YOU!

Thanks for the reply...I think my problem is that although once I start an exercise regime I will do it regularly, once I have to skip a normal workout for a couple of days, like for example if I go away for the weekend, etc.--I get derailed and end up finding excuses not to exercise. I get so frustrated with myself over doing this.
I feel so much better when I workout and I tend to even watch my food intake even more closely when I am in a good exercise regime. I truly have no good excuse not to exercise regularly.
Well, today I am committing to take step #1 and put my kid on her scooter or her bike and go for a run/fast walk with her. You are right, I need to do this for me...

VAcooker, I have a really hard time, too. I've been on and off with an exercise program a million times. I also work from home, so you'd think I'd have no problem finding the time to get a workout in when my kids are at school. I just have a hard time getting motivated. Right now I have a bet going with friends and DH called the "workout challenge." Basically I'll lose $300 if I don't exercise four times a week. I will admit that not wanting to lose the money is the only thing that is motivating me most days. I feel so much better when exercise is a part of my life, but I have a hard time making the routine stick. This $bet$ really has helped.:o
That said, I have to exercise every day for the rest of the week, since I was traveling Sunday-Tuesday with my kids and didn't have the opportunity. I didn't see a Wednesday thread, but I did 30 minutes of aerobics and 15 minutes of abs last night.
