LakeMartinGal....heavy storms over your way? I am in Atlanta and just saw a clip on the news of damaged homes in Dadeville.
I immediately thought of you....& DH & DD(ogs)--hope you were safely out of harm's way.

Thanks for thinking of us! The tornado did hit our town, but totally left the lake area alone! I was on my way home from Auburn (S of Dadeville), having stayed in Kroger until the tornado watch was over, and heard of the touch-down. By the time I got to my turn-off from 280, the tornado and storm were way East, so I was safe. I was, however, watching the side of the road as I drove, deciding minute-by-minute which ditch would be the best if I spotted the tornado coming!
After all that, we didn't even get much rain!

Safe and dry! (I know--rain is needed).
As if there isn't enough to watch out for while driving  !!!
Glad you didn't need to *ditch* (okay--you may groan)...:p
Good you were waiting it out in Kroger...just too bad it wasn't Whole Foods or Penzey's or TJ's... ;) ;)

Another time:cool: , cos we go to Atlanta frequently--this was a *flying* trip (not that we flew--we drove...but there for only 2 days).
Look what this BB is doing--expanding geographical knowledge! I had never heard of Lake Martin until...LakeMartinGal! :p

I had never heard of Lake Martin until...LakeMartinGal! :p It's a well-kept secret! ;) While we love the amenities that come with more full-timers on the lake, we don't want to be over-populated like so many lakes, where there are cottages/houses on every inch of shoreline! I'm thinking of Lime Lake in NY, where there's hardly a place to ski on the lake because of too many people! It's a fine balance...

:D :D :D There you go again...piquing (sp? no spellcheck?) my *travel bug*!!!
Gotta go to mapquest (or my trusty atlas) & find Lime Lake! If I remember correctly (course this is my spotty memory we are talking about :p ) you lived in the Buffalo area at some time...so I guess Lime Lake is in western NY.
I remember a camping trip that had us spending Memorial weekend near Watertown.....brrrr--the coldest Memorial weekend I can remember (course...again it is my *selective/faulty* memory ;) ) There were not too many people out on the water at that time (none actually--the campground hadn't officially opened for the season)!! Don't remember the name of the body of water tho'--it probably wasn't Lime Lake! :D ...only a few dozen/hundreds to check out :p

I found Lime Lake (I think!)...much further south (and west) than where we camped near Watertown--so I guess it would be warmer? Course the "weather" (read--wind...cold) must come off Lake Erie so it would have a similar chilldown that the Watertown area gets off Lake Ontario?
And I'm not even sure how close we were to Watertown when camping--we may have been in the Adirondacks & just drove through Watertown on the way to/from the campground...it was a l o n g time ago!
But what do I know? I'm not a meteorologist ;) ...I just remember the extremes, or the vacations that were affected. :D
But this BB does a lot to expand our knowledge ;) I'm familiar with far western NY only through driving I-90 to get to/from Niagara area or along toward Syracuse--now I know about Lime Lake and the crowded shoreline ;) :p
BackOnT> Hope you have nice weather in Dadeville today :D We are having warm temps & cloudy skies here in North Florida...but we need rain (no violent storms or tornadoes please!)

Supposed to be a high of 71 and overcast, but only a chance of showers. We need more rain to fill the lake, but at least my boat is floating, now! We have visitors coming in a month, so we need the pontoon boat to be usable, as one of the guests is in a wheelchair! It would also be nice for the lake to be swimmable... without a wetsuit!
LOL, except in July and August, the best thing to do in WNY is to drive through it! Unless you like snow, that is... there's lots of good skiing there, as well as the Buffalo Sabres!!!!! :D
Hope you get some of the rain you need, too.
I have friends who live in The Villages... are you anywhere near there?

The Villages! Wow--they had their share of weather with the deadly torndadoes in early February! :(
We are east of there, near the coast, & a bit north of Daytona...close enough that we could meet IRL sometime when you visit your friends!
Some rain last evening! Unexpected even tho' we had a day of clouds...it's a
start cos the whole state is dry dry!

Seems like The Villages have more than their share of bad weather! Like a couple of years ago, when they had 3 or 4 hurricanes hit them (and parts of the rest of the state as well!).
We are very fortunate... the only hurricane that's hit Dadeville dead on and done major damage was Opal, before we moved here. Ivan did have us without power for 5 or 6 days, but no major home-destroying damage was done!
Today's weather is gorgeous! DH is down at the dock, cleaning my boat, and hitting tennis balls for the dogs. They're all such good boys! :D
If we get to go back to Florida, I will take you up on meeting IRL! Meanwhile, next time you're in Atlanta.....;)

We are 3 1/2 to 4 hr. from Disney and maybe 1 more hr to Susans. Is that right Susan?
