Hi Everyone,
I'm glad it's finally Friday. I've been fighting allergies all week which has just exhausted me. Funny enough, I think I'm allergic to new car fumes so I've been doing everything I can to air out the new car. We were expecting 6-12 inches but it looks like it will only be 1-4 total so everyone here is relieved.
Tonight I'm meeting Mcgeiger for happy hour so that will be fun. We haven't gotten together since December due to my coaching. I'm going to head up to the mountains tomorrow and ski a short day. It will be the last day on the mountain for me. I've skied at least 33 days this winter and I'm burned out so it's time for spring. Tomorrow night is our team's awards banquet so I'll attend that and stay in Vail tomorrow night and then drive home on Sunday morning to try to beat closing day traffic.
So, what's everyone else up to?

Hi Robyn and other klatchers and lurkers!
Robyn - Have fun with McGeiger! Drinks sound fun! :p Have a good time at the banquet and hope you can get your allergies under check. Do you love your new car???
My dinner group is getting together tonight. I'm making the salad in the April issue with poached pears and goat cheese. We always eat and drink well!!! :D
Matt is away this weekend with the guys, so I'll be hanging with the boys at home. ;)

Good Morning and Happy Friday the 13th to all!!!
DH and I are headed up to northern PA tonight for what is called Trout Camp but I have yet to see someone go fishing. Especially in this weather, our friend called last night and said there is an inch of slush on the ground and it's freezing. But its a good excuse to eat and drink well and see good friends!!
Robyn, have fun on the last day skiing!
Lauren, enjoy supper club, that salad does sound yummy!

Hi Robyn and Lauren
Robyn have fun this weekend. It sounds like a lot of enjoyable things to do.
Lauren that salad sounds good. I stopped getting CL so I will have to check the recipe out online. Have fun with the boys.
I am so glad this turned out to be the blizzard that wasn't.
We have a 2 hour delay for schools, but I am not really sure why as the roads look clear out my window.
DS has a swim meet tonight and tomorrow so that will pretty much be my weekend. He may go boarding on Sun and I will take the opportunity to sweep out the garage as think this last attempt of a big storm was it.
DD gets home 4 weeks from tomorrow. I am really ready to have her back.

Happy Friday to everybody!!
Got up & went to the gym. After I eat breakfast, I'm going out to run some errands.
We've got a weekend off from crew, so we get a rare weekend at home. I think painting our bathroom is in the game plan for tomorrow so that will mean spackling & taping tonight.
It's chilly & rainy here & we're supposed to get a nor'easter Sunday & Monday :( so I doubt any yard work will get done.
Lauren, have fun at your dinner group!
Robyn, have a great time with Mcgeiger & at the banquet!

Good morning. :)
Well, our weekend will be relatively quiet, but not today.
I'm beat. My oldest - poor guy - has been feeling bad off and on all week (fever, lack of appetite, fatigue). I got it too, but I THINK I'm out of the woods. He was feeling better on Weds, so-so yesterday but managed to make it through school, but then has been running to the bathroom with the runs (sorry - TMI) ever since. That kept me awake most of the night - those mom ears that hear everything.........
The morning was also crazy because my youngest is off to Harrisburg for a field trip. DH had to get him to the school by 6:20 this morning! Didn't sleep through any of that either.
DS gets back at 4:00 today and then it's off to a baseball game at 6:00.
Today I'm working at my son's school - first in the cafeteria and then in the library. Both are just a few hours, but together they add up to something more substantial. I'm just trying to figure out what to wear. In the kitchen I can get away with sloppy - not so much in the library. This means I'll be leaving my oldest to fend for himself while not feeling well, but I think he'll be okay and I'll be close by..........
After all that is over - WHEW - we are DONE until Monday! Thank goodness.........
Robyn - A girls' night out - sounds wonderful. I haven't had one of those in ages. Enjoy!
Lauren - Dinner group sounds fun too. :)
Linsley - Where are you headed? No slush here, but had some yesterday in the morning. Drat this darn weather! Monday and Tuesday look dreadful - that storm coming through and highs of 39! If I see accumulation, I might lose it!!!!!!!!
Laura - Glad to hear you dodged a blizzard.
Sue - Enjoy your quiet weekend. And I hope you don't get much from the storm either.
Well, I'd better go try to eat something. This thing DS and I have had has caused us to have very little appetite. But if I'm going to be on my feet for 5+ hours at school today, I'd better get some food in me! I've been feeling pretty good and I sure hope I don't get the wallop he got at the end!
Take care everyone. :)

Hi, all! Happy Friday the 13th to you, too!
Robyn, is the skiing still good out there in CO? Things were getting pretty slushy by our last day at Crested Butte, and we were all down to our underarmour and a long-sleeved t-shirt! If you are getting more snow, though, I hope you have a great last run!
Lauren, your dinner club salad sounds like something I would love to try, but my kids wouldn't touch! (sigh!) Have fun at your dinner as well as hanging with your boys.
Linsley, Trout camp sounds like a good time, too! Is this an annual tradition?
Laura, I think your snow is headed our way this weekend (maybe not a blizzard, though). And here I am worrying about how to get the lawn mowed when it is so wet out! DH is OOT, and the grass just keeps growing, but it's too muddy to mow. Maybe some snow will slow things down....
Sue, we did the bathroom thing last year, but it turned in to a whole renovation! My advice: Don't do anything but paint if you want to get it done this weekend!!:D
Alysha, hope your son gets over whatever it is soon. There has been "a lot of stuff going around" all winter it seems like. I had to leave my DS at home sick one day as well. If he has plenty of juice, the remote and your phone number, he should be good for a few hours. :) (Doesn't mean you won't worry though).
With DH OOT, I am running around A LOT! DD has a GS function this evening and then an overnight. Tomorrow I have to pick her up and take her to a "Sally Ride Math and Science Festival" that should be really great....promoting math and science careers with girls. DS has a track meet tonight, then piano lesson and referreeing soccer games during the day tomorrow. Thank goodness he can drive himself to those things! I've got some serious cleaning to do today, plus I want to try to squeeze in a visit to a friend who is not doing very well. Better get started!

Kathy - Wow you sound very busy!
Yeah, he'll be fine. But now he's breaking out in hives!! :( :(
At least I'll only be a couple of miles down the road.........

Yeah, he'll be fine. But now he's breaking out in hives!! :( :(
eek! There has been a ton of crap going around down here- we've had at least 1 person out everyday for the past 3 weeks (and I only work with 24 other people!
Everyone has such big plans for the weekend- hope you all have a great one! I'm particularly jealous of Robin and mcgeiger's happy hour, but Lauren's dinner group is a close second ;)
I'll be at work all weekend, and big storm = busy busy busy. Hopefully it'll stay predominantly rain!
My Friday the 13th fun so far:
- had to have my brakes replaced this morning.
- forgot one of my bags at the grocery store, and didn't realize it till I had to go back home. drove back- they couldn't remember where they put it, and I ended up with turkey breast instead of chicken breast. sheesh!
- went for a run on the indoor track at my gym. planned to run 3 miles. about 1.5 miles in, I completely tripped over my own feet and wiped out. I was too embarassed to finish the workout :p
I don't think I should leave the house the rest of the day :D Alas, work calls! If anyone does get a lot of snow- let me know ;)

Friday the 13th has always been a great day for me. I love it! So, I'm looking forward to a nice Friday. It's back to a regular schedule next week. Having a week to do whatever I wanted was a nice treat.
Our greenhouse is up and functional. I've spent some time shopping for plants. I'll be taking cuttings this weekend to increase the number of plants. So, we are working in the yard, weather permitting.
I'm also looking for frost proof large pots for some bamboo that broke free of its barrel. It's black bamboo and I'm told the roots only go down 2'. We can dig it up, break it into sections and repot into some new pots, to place around the yard.
I envy you Robyn for having the full season of skiing. My dh and I haven't skied for quite a few years. We are cross country skiers. I think that I have convinced my dd and ds to participate this coming winter with us on some day trips with a local ski club. They take a bus load of people to ski for the day. They do the research for the trails for beginners, intermediate, and advanced skiers. So, we don't have to do anything but bring our gear, food, water, and supplies. The bus is never far away, so if we get tired we can nap on the bus. And... if our kids are willing to ski with us, we will enjoy it so much more.

Alysha, we're headed to north of Williamsport to a little area called Trout Run. It is an annual thing and last year was beautiful!
cumulus, I suggest you stay inside the rest of the day!:D
DMOrtega, the greenhouse sounds lovely! I wish we could start planting!
Kathy, you are making me tired!!! I love the idea of the math and science fair for girls!
Sue, good luck with the painting!!!

Back from the gym and grocery store. I'm tired. ;)
Linsley - Have fun! I hope there are some good hot drinks ... beside coffee and tea! I'm sure you'll all have a great time.
Laura - I'm sure you'll be thrilled to have your daughter home. Has she been enjoying it? what a wonderful experience!
Sue - Spackling and painting? Oh, but the results will be so worth it! What color?
Alysha - Bummer about the bug running through your house. I hope your son is better soon and your other son and DH don't get it.
Kathy - It took me a minute to figure out OOT. :p You'll be busy this weekend!
cumulus - We're getting quite the weather in New England Sunday and into next week. And the kids are on vacation in MA next week.
DmOrtega - Enjoy your new greenhouse! We need some serious landscaping here, but I have no idea what to plant. We're in a new house and last summer our dog destroyed 3 lilacs and another shrub the builder had planted. I managed to keep her away from the tree.
I'm so excited! I have been working at Le Creuset for a month at which time the employee discount kicks in. So, yesterday I shopped! I bought a 7.25 round Dutch oven in red and a 10.5" skillet in cactus, which is the hunter green. I'm trying out the pot this afternoon with some chili. :D

hi everyone! i'm SO glad it's friday! i took a personal day from work today (and after the BS going on there yesterday, i'm REALLY glad i planned that!). i have a bunch of errands to do and then i'm meeting up with a friend and we're going to go try out the new nail place by my house by getting pedicures. i'm thinking that if it's nice and can hold a few people at a time, i'll go there the day before my wedding next month. and my shower is tomorrow, so it's a good time to go for a test run :). i picked up a necklace and earrings to go with the dress i'm wearing tomorrow too which is exciting. i love having a legitimate excuse to buy stuff for myself. we've been saving up for so long now that i don't really splurge ever.
sunday, DF is going on a business trip and he'll be gone until thursday so i don't know what i'm going to do for the week as far as cooking. it can be tricky enough cooking for 2 sometimes, but now it'll be for 1. oh well.
it's funny, even on my day off, i can't stay away from this BB!
Robyn - enjoy your banquet, and DEFINITELY enjoy your happy hour!
Lauren - definitely report back on that salad - i'm a sucker for anything with goat cheese in it!
Linsley - have a GREAT time at the lake! it sounds like it'll be a nice relaxing weekend :)
Laura & Sue - i hope that winter is over too. it's been really rainy and gross here for the last few days, and it's supposed to be VERY windy here on sunday, but i'm hoping that's the end of the bad weather. this year is crazy - 75 degrees one day, 20 the next, snow the next, torrential downpours the next, and then back to 60's. ugh!
Alysha - i hope your son gets better soon! being sick is no fun :(
Kathy - good luck getting everything done!
cumulus - i totally forgot it was friday the 13th since i'm not at work looking at my calendar! that DEFINITELY explains some of the drivers on the road today!
DmOrtega - i love friday the 13th too! one time, we had a costume party for it like halloween - but it was in march or something - so when we had to run to the store for more party supplies (in costume) we got some REALLY funny looks

I'm taking off shortly to pick up my mother and drive up to the little town of St. Helena in the Napa Valley for lunch at a place I've been wanting to try. That means I don't have to go up and see her on the weekend (sorry that sounds mean) so I'll have a full weekend to do stuff with DBF before he takes off on vacation. I'm thinking gardening!
I've been on a sort of vacation myself, this week. I took a FOOD vacation! I just finished a project and have free time (and had a friend in town for a few days) and have been enjoying bopping around to various shops, markets, restaurants, bakeries, etc. catching up on what's going on in the food world, and it's been a BLAST. I'd never treated my own home as a vacation destination, but it worked out really well. And no airport security.
Ack! Later than I thought! Have a great weekend all!
Laura

ugh. the snow is coming down now. not sticking to the roads but still.
Lauren, Paige has had a wonderful time over there, made some great friends, but I think she is ready to come home. Now that it is getting closer she just wants to be here. It would be easier too with all the college decisions that have to be made and most of the forms needing her signature on them (which I think is weird as she is still a minor). Enjoy your new pans!
Alysha, I hope you and DS1 are feeling 100% soon.
Kathy, I agree with everyone else. That is a lot of running around to do. I hope our weather goes south of you.
Linsley, I had to re-read your post as at first I thought it was going to be warm enough to fish and I was going to be jealous (not of the fishing just the warm weather), but it sounds like you will have a great time all the same.
cumulus - I hope the rest of your day goes better! :)
Shera - enjoy your pedicure and shower. I would love to get a pedicure but since i am sticking my toes in snowboots today, i don't think i will. Maybe next weekend.
It sounds like everyone has a great weekend planned. Today is a glorious day! The SUN is shining, the sky is blue, and it is fairly warm here in NW IN!:D
Finally! No more snow or rain or cold.
I have a few IEPs to write for school, soooo that is what I will be doing this weekend. Have fun everyobe!
Vicky
Checking in late for the Klatch today....
We are due to get hit with a heavy snowstorm this weekend. It will probably be at least 6", but they're saying if the fronts converge in a certain way, it could be over a foot! Come on, this is April!! I went to Wegman's this morning while DD2 was at preschool, because I figured it will be crammed tomorrow.
Anyway, no plans this weekend, except for Sara's soccer practice tomorrow morning. I guess we'll be stuck inside the rest of the weekend.
Today is 3 weeks until my Lasik surgery. I had to start wearing my glasses full time today, until the procedure, and they are already driving me nuts. I know Jerry is going to get really tired of me whining about how I can't stand wearing my glasses. I just have to look at the big picture and realize I'll be contact free in less than a month. Yeah!
Hope everyone has a great weekend, and stay warm and dry!

Well, my day turned after I posted this morning. I was walking to my car and was suddenly hit with the need to throw up. I never do this so I turned and ran back inside. I had to make it to work for a while to get a couple of things done that had to be done to close our books today and then came home. I've slept for 2 hours and feel a bit better but a bit wary about what goes in my stomach. I think it was just a bad reaction to meds this morning for whatever reason but it was not fun.
Lauren, have fun tonight!
Linsley, trout camp sounds great!
Alysha, yikes I hope DS starts feeling better soon.
Laura, it's barely snowing here, what's it doing in the Springs?
Kathy, it's actually not a girls night, we're meeting a bunch of mcgeiger's friends but nonetheless it will be fun.
Beth, yikes, that is not a great way to start a weekend, I hope things get better.
Sue, good luck with the painting!
DmOrtega, I hope you can make the skiing a family event. I've only tried cross country once when I was young and was no good. I really should try again.
Ashley, I can't believe the wedding is next month!
Canice, hope you had a nice lunch in Napa.
Vicky, I am so ready for spring as well! I'm jealous of your weather.
Sue, I'd happily wear my glasses for 3 weeks to have lasik! I hope all goes well.

Wow! This weather is wierd all over the country. We don't have it rough, but I can never tell how many blankets to put on the bed at night. It seems to be different every night.
Canice, your mini-vacation sounds fabulous!
Laura, Paige was in France, right? You must be getting so excited to see her!
Linsley, Trout Camp sounds fun. Is it a weekend of cooking and eating with friends?
My weekend is full, but it doesn't seem full. Tonight I'm putting together some project planning for costumes I have in the works. Tomorrow I'm going fabric and trim shopping with a couple of friends downtown. Tomorrow night we're meeting some friends from out of town for dinner. Sunday I'm going to a packet-stuffing party for a costuming convention in August. And Sunday night, a group of us are going to try to catch up on Lost.
DH will be at the Star Wars exhibit at the Science Center volunteering all weekend. I can't wait till the exhibit ends, and I get my husband back.

Hello to everyone who came after I left. :)
Yikes - poor kid is one big welt now - looks like the hives merged into large masses on his legs and back and smaller ones elsewhere. Benadryl seems to be keeping the itching at bay, though, so hopefully they'll be better tomorrow.
Alysha, we're headed to north of Williamsport to a little area called Trout Run. It is an annual thing and last year was beautiful!
Uh, have you looked at the forecast for this area? How long are you sticking around? Saturday night looks like it could be ugly, especially north of here. Maybe up to 12 inches! Hopefully you won't get snowed in.
Sorry Cumulus, but I soooooo hope the forecasters are wrong on this one!!!!!! ;) What happened to spring????????
I do recall living in NY in the 70s - 1976? - and a late April snow of around 20 inches. But I was a kid then and it was fun! Now I just want to hang out and grill and drink beer on the deck. ;) :D
Woohoo! I was just sitting here, grumbling about how we were having to head out tonight in 43 degree temps and 20-30 MPH winds to a BB game and then I got a call that it's been canceled. Yeah! DS won't be happy though. He'll get very indignant and call them wimps for canceling. ;)
Ahhhh....a relaxing evening just the 4 of us...............

Well I'll join in even though its a bit late............
All of you with kids and their schedules....been there done that and as tiring as it was they are just such fond memories.
Not a whole lot going on. BF left for Florida today with his cousin and two nieces. One niece has a condo there. He needs a vacation so I am glad he is going but I miss him already.
Work is crazy busy and I am so glad I am home after a hectic Friday. Crappy weather on the way which I am pi**sed about cause I want to get into my gardens.
I work for a lovely lady tomorrow morning for a few hours and then off to Ocean State Job Lot to stock up on spring supplies. Then off to visit both granddaughters:D
Sunday will be Church and then out to lunch with a dear old friend. In between all this is Spring cleaning.
Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Well, I'm really late to the party, today! My excuse is that I had a day to myself just to shop! I went to Montgomery, stopped at Sam's, then did recreational grocery shopping at Publix (that's the closest one), then off to Kohl's to see what I could buy with my 20% coupon! (not much... I really need to drop some poundage!:o )
My (brand new Duet Sport) washer was fixed today after 2 weeks waiting for the part! So I am excited about doing laundry for the rest of the weekend! DH thinks I'm nuts, but I really don't like laundromats much... just don't get the clothes clean, there!
DH is still trying to get over the cold (I think it's pneumonia... he's on the second round of antibiotics)! It just stinks to have no immune system left!
Robyn -- sure hope you feel better... do you still get to meet with McGeiger? maybe just have gingerale?
Dee -- have a fun time this weekend!
Alysha -- yikes! hives! That's so tough to keep from scratching! Hope your family gets over "the crud" which is what they call all those lingering illnesses around here!
Colleen -- enjoy your weekend... if that was a Star Trek convention, I might have to go!
Lauren -- enjoy the dinner group... sounds good!
Lindsley -- have fun at trout camp! Always a good time to get together with friends!
Kathy -- all that running around... wow! that's why young women have the kids!;)
Cumulus -- sorry you have to work on the weekend... just keep the bad weather away from Alabama, ok? We already had a tornado this week...;)
dmortega -- wish I could get interested in doing some gardening... I'm only interested in buying and pointing...:o
SheRa -- enjoy your girly time!;)
Laura, SueK and vbak -- I'm thinking you don't live near each other, right?;) Our weather is more like vbak's, and BOY! am I glad!:)
Hello, and a smart comment to anyone I missed! :p Have a wonderful weekend, everyone! :)

Well I did go to happy hour and had a really great time catching up with mcgeiger! I did have beer, but it was Jah Mon Ginger, does that count as ginger ale? :p :D I really think it was just the meds. I also had a delicious grilled cheese with avocado and sauteed mushrooms and onions on it.
I need to get my crap together for tomorrow so I best run.

Well, DD is off to her overnight, and I am about ready to hit the hay. DS had his track meet cancelled today AND his soccer games for tomorrow. (He's not happy about that since he won't earn any money if he doesn't referee!)
I had a nice evening sitting and chatting with my GS coleader while our girls ran around and did all the work with younger girls. We DID get up once to get a hot dog and check on them, then sat down and chatted some more. :D Our job was to man the door so no one got out that wasn't supposed to.....ideal for a lazy evening of conversation!
Glad you got your washer fixed, Kay. I'm also glad to know that others also consider grocery shopping to be a recreational activity at times. :p
Dee, enjoy your visit with your granddaughters and your friend!
Alysha, it sounds like your poor son is getting it from all sides. Fever, fatigue, diarrhea and now hives. He must feel rotten! Have you talked to his doctor? I'm glad he is not itching, but what in the world kind of virus/infection did he catch?
Laura, how long has Paige been gone? Was it a semester program?
Gotta get to bed, I am fading fast. Wishing you all a good weekend!:)

SheRa - I'm with you on the goat cheese! Love it! The salad was very good and we all enjoyed it. :D
Alysha - Hope the hives have faded by now. Poor kid!

We actually don't have a family doctor yet! :o We moved and haven't really needed one since the move.
In my experience, they never know what these intestinal things are - they call it gastroenteritis and charge you $50 for what you could have told them yourself! The fever and the diarrhea only lasted one night, so I didn't get too worried.......
And hives - from what I've read, it's very difficult to determine a cause. They can come on for absolutely no apparent reason. I think rashes can be brought on by viruses and/or fevers, so it could have just been his body's reaction to whatever else was going on.
As I was typing this, he woke up and his hives are completely gone. Thank goodness! He was miserable and itchy from about 8:00 last night until 4:00 in the morning. So that's one night spent running to the bathroom and one night up itching all night - poor guy. I would have definitely taken him in today for a cortisone or some other shot if the hives hadn't cleared up - they were just awful!
Hopefully the poor child can get complete relief and start eating again - he looks so thin!

Well our blizzard was just a few inches of snow, but they cancelled school anyways. I guess the winter storm warnings did not get cancelled until after the schools decided to close for the day. So no swim meet yesterday, but an especially long one today.
Kathy and Colleen, Paige has been in France about 45 minutes outside of Paris since January. She did go to school through March, but it was not part of a program she just stayed with my girlfriend and went with her daughter. Now she has a month to bum around which is probably too long, but there are worse things than being stuck in France for a month.
Alysha, I am glad DS1's hives went away. What a week for him!
I spent yesterday doing Spring cleaning hoping it would bring Spring back. We'll see if it works. :D
Have a good weekend everyone!
