Just heard it on the news. 76 years old. His show was one of the first things I saw when I got assigned to Pearl Harbor when I was in the Navy. He made it a point to hire "at risk" kids to perform in his shows.
Have a glass of champagne in his memory. "Tiny Bubbles in the wine......"

I was just about to post the same news. My daughter just sent me a text message about his death. I remember seeing his show when I was 15. He had been having heath troubles lately and had some experimental treatment. A sad loss. My condolences to his family, friends and fans.

Okay:
1st: I am very sad he passed. I remember him playing music and singing about bubbles.

2nd: I had him on my Death Pool list

3rd: Loremma had him on her list too

Not sure if I missed anyone's list but I think this was it!

Maybe Escher will chime in soon, or maybe some will take pity on my record keeping and speak up......
RIP Don Ho!

When I was a little girl, my Dad had some records that we would occasionally get to listen to on the record player (you know the big wood chest with a record player, 8-track player, and speakers built in) and I absolutely loved Tiny Bubbles by Don Ho. It was my favourite "adult" song. Even now, when I hear that song, it totally takes me back to that living room, shag carpet and all. Here's to you, Don Ho.

My fond Don Ho memories (a little bit of his old show as well as the Brady Bunch go to Hawaii) were forever tarnished when we went and saw his show in Honolulu a few years ago. It was bizarre---it was in a big conference room with long banquet type tables set up throughout. He sort of mumbled his way through a few songs, then took a break and his daughter came out and did a set. He came out and sang a few of the songs again, then the show was over. What we throught would be kitchy fun was instead just sort of sad. His health problems must have already been happening at that time.

Hopefully, he's now back to his previous form.
