I love Jim Mullen's columns.

Sanjaya-mania a puzzlement (http://www.evesun.com/chenango-county/news-stories/2007-04-10/1702/Sanjaya-a-cure-all-for-a-girls-problems)

Jalapeno, have your remote held tightly in your hand. You may need the mute button easily reachable. (We're talking really REALLY bad!) I'm sure he'll advance though. And, just think, there are people who think he can really sing.

Sanjaya's performance was so bad last night - it was just painful. But, alas, I doubt he will go tonight. It's really starting to get ugly and VERY annoying.

He needs to go already!!!!

I actually think Chris will go tonite. Didn't you know that "nasally" is a type of singing? And yes, he sings that way on purpose. I just don't like him at all. And another one, i'm not into is Blake. He was aight, but no AI IMO.

Hopefully the voters will listen to Simon when he said it's no longer funny about Sanjaya. He was just so awful last night I had to fast forward! What are people thinking??

On the other hand, JORDIN SPARKS was just tremendous, I had tears in my eyes! I see her and Melinda as the top two. Lakisha better get out of her slump or she could go sooner rather than later...I don't know what happened to her, she was fabulous at the beginning...

I had a hard time with Blake's performance last night, mainly because I was so befuddled by that song. Was it just gibberish? Its been a few years since I listened to country, and I've never heard that song before. It made absolutely no sense.

As far as the actual performances, I thought Jordin was the best, and I really liked Melinda, too. This was the first time she struck me as young. I loved her story about her running away from that fan!

Maybe it was just me, but I didn't think that Sanjaya had the same level of audience support last night as he has had in the past. As bad as he was, maybe the audience was in shock. It was a horrid performance and I laughed at Simon's comment about it being as bad as some of the worst auditions.

IMO, Jordin and Melinda stole the show last night...although Phil wasn't half bad singing country.

I like Jordin best. She's darling and she has a fabulous voice.

I've heard that Sanjaya is actually getting the MOST votes of all of the idols. (due to websites promoting the worst idol, as well as Howard Stern's urging to vote for him). It will be interesting if he actually wins. He may become another one of those William Hung mall stars. I wonder if he realizes that he is being made fun of.

Was it just us or did Sanjaya's performance go on FOREVER? It seems like he sang for hours and the rest of the performers had about a minute to do their songs!

Sanjaya must go.

Our favorites (based on last night)
1. Jordin
2. Melinda
3. Blake
4. LaKisha (she needs to break out of this slump!!!)
5. Phil (Normally, I'm no fan of Phil, but he did okay last night)
6. Chris
7. Sanjaya.

I'd probably rank them pretty much like you, but not sure I'd pick Blake 3rd. To be honest, Chris, Phil and Blake can all go after Sanjaya and leave the 3 gals top 3. Singing-wise, that's as it should be IMO. Blake, to me, just never really connects with the song, he's sorta blank looking.

I don't listen to country, never have, but I've heard this song because they play it on my radio station. It's a pop radio station and I guess this country song was able to cross over. It's nice. I found the video online if you want to see...Tim McGraw - When the Stars Go Blue (http://music.clevver.com/video/14232/tim-mcgraw-when-the-stars-go-blue-300.php).

I agree with Simon - I must be hearing something different than the judges and now, it seems, everyone here. I thought most everyone did well. The one I didn't like was Blake. Very sad since I'm a fan. He sounded pitchy.

I actually really liked Lakisha and I like that she did the song as is. I can only imagine how uncomfortable she was doing country yet she did it...AS COUNTRY. She didn't try to change it into the style that she always does. I thought she sounded really good.

Jordin was my favorite. She sounds so good when she's not running around the stage.

He looked like his next destination was home to clean the bathroom!

Unless there's some crazy vote-splitting going on, I think it'll come down to Jordin & Melinda. I'd be happy with either one.

I can barely tolerate Sanjaya any longer. I just stop paying attention when he sings.

I agree about not hearing the same that the judges hear. I enjoyed Chris, but thought that Blake sounded very pitchy. I was shocked at the judges' responses to Blake's performance. I like the song, but I just thought it was very pitchy. I also thought Lakisha did a better job than they thought, but what do I know!

I so wish that Sanjaya would go. He got into the top 10 and gets to tour, which is a waste. If they don't figure out how to make this voting work out correctly, this will have to be my last season watching. Its not fun to watch when the voting is bogus, even as much as I'm entertained by other singers.

Thanks for the link to the video - I can't watch it at work, but I will check it out later. I usually like Tim McGraw, so when they said the song was by him, I expected to like it. I went and looked up the lyrics, and I still think the song just seems like gibberish. Hopefully the video will explain it to me. :)

The Corrs with Bono have done a gorgeous version of this song.

Unless Tim McGraw singing in a circle of trees in the snow explains anything then I wouldn't get my hopes up for any explanation! :D

DH thought the same thing. He said that Sanjaya looked like a crazy housewife!

This gave me a good hearty belly laugh! A "crazy housewife"! I pictured someone from the June Cleaver error!
