I feel kind of silly having to ask this question, since I live only about 30 min. from SF, but ever since having my son 2 1/2 years ago, I've been really out of the SF restaurant loop!

I have family coming to town in a couple weeks. They're staying in the city (Marriott in Union Square), and we want to take them to Sunday brunch. I've been trying to find a place that isn't a chain (i.e. Cheesecake Factory) and serves nice enough brunches, but is also an appropriate spot to bring my 2 1/2-year-old (meaning, reservations would be preferred so we won't be stuck waiting in one of those long, long Sunday brunch lines!)

I've been searching quite a bit and have turned up very little in the way of kid-friendly spots. The best I've come up with so far is brunch at Fog City Diner (http://www.fogcitydiner.com/) or at Citizen Cake (http://www.citizencake.com/), but am not thrilled with either option. An acquaintance suggested the Park Chalet Garden Restaurant (http://beachchalet.com/aboutus/index.php?page=parkchalet), but my visitors have a mid-afternoon flight out of OAK, so I don't want to take them all the way out to Ocean Beach and then face a time crunch.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The nice thing about Fog City would be that it's right there in Levi's Plaza, so basically a park with knolls and a stream if you needed to step out for a breath of fresh air. Citizen Cake wouldn't be appropriate IMO, but you might consider Foreign Cinema (http://www.foreigncinema.com/home.html) in the Mission. The Web site makes it look "urban chic" or whatever, but obviously it's much more casual for brunch. I'll come back if I think of anything later.

ETA, while I've never eaten at the Beach Chalet myself, I've read nothing but bad things about the service, so I definitely wouldn't go there if my guests had a plane to catch.

Good point about the park setting near Fog City, Canice. I hadn't thought of that before, but if the little guy starts to get antsy, that would be a good place for DH or me to take him for a walk.

I'll check out what Foreign Cinema has to offer too - thanks for that suggestion. I've never been there so it never crossed my mind.
