We just bought a used 5th wheel. The problem is, the previous owner didn't use the queen size bed so tossed it! We can't buy a regular mattress as no way to get it in. We go up steps. So it almost has to be in sections. DH doesn't want an airbed. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to look at some camping websites, such as campers world, and see if they have replacement mattresses. If you know the size and brand, you then may be able to search for it cheaper elsewhere.
Good luck,

Another idea would be to go to a fabric store and buy the thickest foam padding they have--you might have to get seveal pieces to get the size and thickness you want, but the pieces would be small enough to get in place. Once in place, you could then figure out how to put them together so that they don't slip around under you--.

Contact your RV manufacturer directly. We had an issue with a used travel trailer and when we contacted the manufacturer directly they sent us parts we needed to make a repair. We needed an additional leg to support the bed and they sent us one at very minimal charge. They should be able to send you a new mattress at a reasonable charge. Deal directly with the manufacturer, not any dealership or retail store for something like this.
When you contact the mfr, they will need year and model of trailer. There is usually a model number on a label somewhere on the rig.
I think Hammster's suggestion is a good one. I also wanted to add that in a camper/trailer a friend of mine had years back, he replaced the RV mattress with a futon mattress. It was much more comfortable than the original. Good luck!
