We were cleaning out my MIL's house this weekend and came across a Tiffin Carrier. I decided to keep it because it looks great for hauling around food when we are camping. I guess it can keep things hot or cold, I'm not sure, I'm still researching it but I thought I'd see if anyone has any experience or knowledge about them.
I'm hoping to post a picture (no luck so far) but in a nutshell they are stainless steel pans about the size of cake pans stacked on top of each other with a SS bar that clamps down to hold them together for easy transport.

A description from this (http://www.herbalremedies.com/tiffin-carrier.html) website:
Tiffin Carrier or "Indian Lunch Box" is great for picnics or camping. Because of the stainless steel, each container keeps your food either cold or hot. 5 compartments available (4 " across ).
HTH :)

In India, housewives pack their husband's lunch in them, so they can have a hot lunch at the work site. They are great...my family used to take them whenever we went into DC to for the 4th of July, Cherry Blossoms, etc.

Thanks for the pic and the links.
When I googled it most of the hits were Indian in nature. Very cool.
Yes, it looks like those posted but probably 9 inches across. I think it's going to be great to use it at the campfire or grill and deliver to the picnic table.
I'm amazed at what great shape it's in. I can't imagine how long my MIL has had it. She lived in that house for 52 years.
I'm dissappointed there's no info stamped anywhere on it. I may take a photo of it and post it later.
Thanks for the replies!

Just thought I'd update this. It's a Buckeye Product (yeah!) by Mardigian Corp of Wooster Ohio. Thermo-core bought the company in 1964 to use the plant to make the waterless cookware.
I did find a couple of the Carriers on Ebay. One was listed for $24.95 with no bids. That's cool.. I wouldn't have sold it anyway. The other listing has 4 cups, 4 bowls and 4 plates included as well. Of those of you with experience do you remember the plates etc? We didn't come across anything like that while cleaning MIL house.
Anyway, thanks for reading and anyone who comes across this and has experience with them please post!
