It has been so long since I did this that I don't know where to begin. I have an opprtunity to apply for a higher position where I work and I would like to submit a resume, I actually think I have to I don't think I have any other choice. I will be submitting everything online and have 72 hours to do it in. I know I don't want it to be long and definitely don't want it to be a chronological one but is it really necessary to include things outside of my place of business since it is a position where I am currently employed? Is it really necessary to include my education? I have no college education.

Do you have Microsoft works? You can use one of the resume templates to help you fill out your resume. Or you could do a search online for sample resumes to get an idea of what information you should include. I've always been told that a resume should be one page maximum. I think you should include your current job position and duties and list previous jobs and job duties, chronologically, after that. That's pretty much standard as far as I've been taught. Good luck to you!

In many industries, the one page length constraint is no longer used. It really depends on your industry/career experiences.

You should include any previous experience that would be applicable (even peripherally). I personally prefer a chronological resume (present job listed first) but if there is a logical way to list them that might work in your case.

There are several good threads here about resumes. And I believe there is at least one person here that does (or did) write/proof resumes professionally.
