Your cell? Did it go through the whole cycle? Oh no. What a bummer. If it's any consolation, I have two funny phone-in-water stories. When ds #2 was a toddler, he loved cell phones. He'd see one and pick it up--no matter whose it was. He picked up dh's phone once and threw it in the air. It landed in the pot of water I was boiling for pasta. :D The phone did work after that, but it shorted out some of the features. Like the screen would appear upside down sometimes. Another time we were at a pool party (can you see it coming?). Ds picked up our friend's fancier, more expensive cell and threw it in the pool like it was a toy. Yeah, that one didn't make it.
Anyway, I feel for you.
P.S. For a while there, ds had a nickname: the phone killer.

See if you can get it to completely dry out- it may come back to life!

(In a drunken slip, my phone fell in a toilet--clean water--and started working again about two days later!)

Good luck! And yes, incredibly frustrating!

I one time was looking all over my bed for my phone, I knew it was there but it got wrapped up in covers. I moved the covers in a certain way that all of the sudden the phone flung up into the air and landed in the one glass of water in the who room. What are the chances of that?! It did work again after drying out completely for about a day or two. I don't know if you'll be able to save one that went through the wash but it's worth a try.

I have a friend who did the same thing. Phone went through the entire wash cycle but after a couple of days it did come back. She's used it for many months and it's still working now. Hopefully yours will make it too.

Leo Laporte just said it will be fine (probably) but let it dry before you attempt to use it.

Yeah; when those darn phones hit the booze, there's no stopping them.

:D ;) :D

It'll probably be fine when it dries out--in all respects.

I hope it will be o.k. My friend just washed (and dried) her flash drive and lost everything! Sounds like phones are more resilient, though!

I used to wash my kids gameboy games (not system) all the time. I have a rule that I don't check pockets. Amazingly, those games works after washing and drying too. I hope you can get your phone to work again. Let us know.

I worry about washing my iPod shuffle. It is soooo tiny and if I forget to unclip it from my shirt....

I don't know if the phone is damaged permanently, but you can get it to dry out by putting it in a low oven for a few hours - just be sure to take the battery out first! My cell phone sat in a half-inch of water from a spilled water bottle and wouldn't even turn on, but after I dried it in the oven it was fine. I put the oven on the lowest possible temperature. Good luck!

I have never had to dry a phone out, but I was just listening to a tech guy on the radio last weekend and he said as some of the other said about drying it out. I guess it is very important that it be completely dry before you try to turn it on. If it's not completely dry it will short out. Hope in a few days it fires right back up for you!

AFter mine also hit the toilet once - I stuck it on a stack of boxes under the desk lamp in my cubicle. By the end of the day, it was dry and working. Be sure and keep it open.

I washed DH's phone a couple of weeks ago. He decided to ban me from doing his laundry - he never liked the way I did it anyway.

So there's a silver lining in everything! :D

Your phone may come back to life - give it a chance before you get a new one.

I would also suggest letting it dry out for a couple of days. Something like this happened to one of my nephews and after the initial omg, my brother opened up the phone, removed the battery and let the phone dry for a couple of days. It finally powered up and is usable. Good luck.
