Have any of you heard of this before? I googled it, but came up dry. Dh was reading an article about a guy who cleans up after crime scenes. He said that sometimes the homicides can be really nasty (as you can imagine) if the (sorry) body has been there for a while. It the crime has taken place in an apartment that needs to be rented out again, for example, they need to get rid of the odor left behind. What this guy does is soak a towel in a bottle of Scope. He leaves the wet towel in the bathtub overnight. When he comes back the next day, the odor is gone.
We just had our carpets shampooed and then the weather turned chilly. The carpets have that damp, awful scent. Dh is trying the Scope trick and I really think it's working. It's only been out a couple of hours, but so far, the odor seems to be dissipating. Interesting, isn't it?

Do you think that Listerine would work the same?
With a fairly new puppy in the house I think I'll give this a try tomorrow after cleaning :D

I haven't ever heard of using Scope as an air freshner but seems like a good idea!

I have heard of using Listerine as a disinfectant. I know a preschool teacher that keeps Listerine in a spray bottle and after the kids mouth toys or at the end of the day, she sprays all the toys with LIsterine to kill germs.

We also have dog odor in the house--if you know what I mean. Like, you can just tell a big dog lives here. When I walked in this afternoon, I couldn't smell anything but the candle I had lit this morning. The darn thing worked!
I bet Listerine would do the same thing. They are both supposed to get rid of breath odor, right? It's worth a try. Dh put the scope in a towel and placed the towel in a cooler in the living room (we don't have a tub downstairs). I think I'm dragging that cooler upstairs tonight!
Let me know if this works for you too.
