Wow. I feel like the last season just ended. I know this one is early, but it doesn't feel like it could have been that long.

MIAMI - The first named storm of the year formed Wednesday off the southeastern U.S. coast, more than three weeks before the official start of the Atlantic hurricane season, forecasters said.

Subtropical Storm Andrea had top sustained winds around 45 mph Wednesday morning and didn't appear to be much of a threat, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said. Still, a tropical storm watch was issued for parts of Georgia and Florida, meaning tropical storm conditions are possible within 36 hours

It was interesting reading the difference between a subtropical and a tropical storm. I agree, it's too early for it to start again. I sure hope they're wrong about the quantity and severity of the hurricane season for this year.

Yeah. I think I've had enough for a few years.

On the other hand ..... WE NEED RAIN!!!!! We are so desperate for some rain that I'll take the sub-tropical storm.

It's been so smoky at my house today that it's just nasty! The fires aren't even that close, but the smoke is EVERYWHERE.

I always have mixed feelings about whether I would want a storm with my name. Last year there was one with one son's name, and had we gone deeper into the alphabet, there would have been one with the other son's name. That was kind of strange that they both came about inthe same year.

DeeK, hope you get some rain. I'm sure a subtropical storm would be a better way to get a good dose than some that might follow. I just hope the early start doesn't mean more or bigger sotrms.

The weather was just on and they aren't predicting much rain at all from this storm.

They also mentioned that this did not mean we were in for any more or worse storms particularly. Or at least, not because of this storm. However, the Hurricane Center was predicting a higher number of storms this year because of La Nina.

I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

Here's the Naming Convention for Hurricanes (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/aboutnames.shtml)so you can plan ahead :)

And Dee- I wish I could send you some of our rain! 8+ inches here this past week!

Angela

'Cause it was my turn... ;)

Seriously though, I'd feel weird with a name associated with great disaster. Andrew is a pretty common name, but not many Katrinas out there. That name will always conjure up certain images and memories.
