I'm looking for a saute pan. I want something good that is going to last a while. Any recommendations?

We just use a five-year old Farberware set we got for our wedding, but All-Clad and Calphalon make VERY good cookware; someday we'll upgrade! Search the older postings here, and there's a good discussion started by CHRIST1NE entitled "Circulon pots/pans feedback wanted." At this very moment, it's listed as last posted on 7/24/2000 @ 9:12PM.

Thanks Ralph, I saw it later. I'm new to this forum and am getting used to the arrangement.

Julia, in addition to the brands mentioned in the previous thread, take a look at Paderno-Chaudier saute pans. They're thick stainless steel with an aluminum-disk bottom and a curved rim that prevents drips; also, somehow the lid and pan handles stay miraculously cool even though they're also metal. I have a small saucepan that I use as a rice pot or for making small sauces, and I love it.

I'm thinking of getting some more of this cookware myself -- as soon as I can figure out where to put it! After a while, the only remaining space becomes parts of the body: skillet slung across the back like a guitar, saucepan as a hat (with bill to back for informal occasions), Dutch oven as a bustle, etc.... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

At any rate, you can take a look at the prices and request a paper catalog at http://www.paderno.com

Thanks for the suggestion Ohioan. I'll look at the site you mentioned. I agree about space. We moved into a 26 year old house last fall and the kitchen was awful - cabinets from Ikea from a renovation from about 10 years ago - impossible to store stuff. We just renovated and while we didn't make it bigger (it's 8' x 17'), we did arrange to have more effective space with huge pot drawers.

I'm laughing at the image you presented with the bustle and skillet - perhaps a wooden cutting board a la Stompin Tom Conners (a Canadian country singer who stomps on a piece of wood while performing) would complete the outfit http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
