OK, this is a tricky one, but I have confidence in the fashion mavens around here.
Here is the topline situation:
Late June
Jersey Shore
11am wedding & reception (I've got this covered. Fabulous navy & white polka dot a-line dress)
Afternoon of shopping & playing around w/friends
Return at 8pm for a bonfire on the beach.
Yikes! What the heck do I wear to a beach wedding bonfire!! I know the bride & groom will be changing clothes for this. I obviously dont' want to go too casual w/jeans or shorts. But need something sand-worthy.
Any good ideas??
TIA

I would hardly consider myself a fashion maven (case in point, I get whiny when I have to wear grown-up shoes AKA heels) but how about this idea...
Capris
Sleeveless top & sweater, maybe a twinset?
Sandals
Sounds like fun!! I'd love it because I could wear sandals!!!

I think khaki colored capris (or any color really) would look nice. If the clothes get some sand on them, so what? It will brush/wash off.
But I think at 8 pm on the beach in June could be a little chilly. I would definitely have a nice cozy fleece or hoodie available to throw on too! Unless you are right next to the bonfire!
PS - where in NJ? I would love to do a bonfire on the beach but I have not seen them allowed most places I go. Did they have to get a special permit or something?

Oh, I would add that I'd make sure whatever it is it's washable, not dry clean, so you can throw it in the wash afterward.

Or - you could do a very casual, summery dress with flip-flop sandals. I also think you could do bermuda shorts, a nice top, and dressier shoes.

Perhaps linen capris (or anything linen for that matter) would be a little more dressy -- love linen in the summer! Sounds like a fun day.

Bonfire on the beach sounds extremely casual. I don't see why jeans wouldn't be appropriate, but capris or a long casual skirt would be my choice. What a great ending to a wedding day!

Thx for the ideas, everyone! Of course, everything posted includes shopping for new stuff (not my favorite sport). But I saw that coming. I just got some capri's, but they're way too casual (Prana). Would love a new sundress, so that might be in order. I'm sure some people will wear jeans, but I'd really like something a bit flirtier & fun (even though I just got new jeans)
I do love the idea of the bonfire & know it will be fun. It's at a resort, so I'm sure they're the ones w/the bonfire permit.
