Greetings ;)
Well, here we are, another Bank Holiday weekend here in the Uk....and yes it's POURING WITH RAIN:mad:
I could have cheerfully chucked this computer in the bin the other day.....I couldn't post any messages...it nearly drove me crazy:eek:
We are doing some decorating....but today we are having a day off...the preperation seems to take for ever!
We moved here 18 months ago, and we are finally getting around to doing some work.

Hi Coventry...I'm jealous of your British-Isles weather. We're heading into the horrible muggy humid Hell-weather here in the southern part of the USA, and I hate it so! It was a beautiful spring, though, and autumn will eventually arrive...

We had some nice spring weather earlier this month, but we seemed to have prematurely skipped into summer this week.
Muggy, hot (for here this time of year, not for other parts of the country), thunderstorms off and on.
I can take heat, I just hate the humidity. If it's going to feel wet, it might as well rain. Well, except for today - we're grilling ribs and rain would NOT be welcome. :)
I miss the clear, dry blue skies of spring. Please bring 'em back before summer sets in for good.
Still, it's better than winter, and the tomatoes and basil will get a nice jump start. :)

Hello .....I'm looking out of the window and the sky is gray...and it's still raining, it's a bit chilly as well.....but I always think you can put something on to get warmer....but you can never seem to make yourself cooler...that's what I find anyway.

Hope the rain has kept off so as you can get outside to grill those ribs :)
My friend gave me some pepper plants on friday, so I planted them, she also gave me some tomatoe plants, they have come out well the past few years, more down to my husband looking after them than me:)
I can't stand it when it's really hot...it is so uncomfortable isn't it?

You are in the UK??? From the title of this thread I assumed you were writing from Seattle!!;)
It is a miserable, rainy and cold day here. We braved the outdoors and took the kids to the zoo for a couple of hours and we all got soaked! Surprisingly, a lot of animals were out today so we did get to see lots of neat things.
The rest of the week is supposed to be better here -- hope the same is true for you too!
We are lucky to be having nice weather this weekend, but we truly could use some of that rain you are having in England. We are soooo dry. My backyard is crunchy!
I spent the morning at church, had lunch with DH and then we spent the better part of two hours at the gym. Tonight we are treating ourselves to dinner our with our son.
So far, it's been a very good weekend. :)

I agree with you but really wonder if there is a "norm" for weather anymore? I was really enjoying my first spring in PA but this current humidity is no fun. I feel like I am back in NC!
At least it is sunny...but with a chance of showers pretty much anytime...
BTW, ribs sound so good! We haven't had any since my DH got his cholesterol results!!!

Well, I just got back from camping in the mountains last night. It was cold during the night but it was beautiful this morning. I was riding in an open jeep coming home so I got sunburned a bit but it's in the 80s and beautiful. The boys are smoking ribs this afternoon so I'll head over there for dinner.

Count me among those who are wishing for rain! Our lake is going down before it ever reached full pool! It doesn't bother me so much, but a lot of folks can't get their boats in the water, and those who did, but don't live here, don't know where all the sandbars and other hazards are!
Yesterday morning, I spent 4 hours at an accident scene, went to lunch, ran/swam in the lake, read on the dock, went to dinner! Today, church, lunch with DH, called to a heat stroke victim, and back to the computer and laundry! Kindof a normal Memorial Day weekend!:)

What I've come to realize is that my expectations are perhaps off. Most statistics talk about average temperatures and what the average temp should be this time of year. But averages may not be a very good measure of what the typical temperature is. If the average temperature for April is say, 50, that could mean half the days were in the 80s, and half were in the 20s. Okay, so that's an exaggeration, but it shows how the average tells very little about the actual temps recorded. What we really need is mean temps - whatever temp was most often recorded. Or something like that........
Anyway.........very few days seem to actually fall in that range that everyone associates with the "perfect" spring temps.. I think fluctuations are pretty normal, actually.
We have only had one very short sprinkle today - there's lots of stuff popping up on the radar still, but we seem to be inbetween where most of it is going. And the breeze - or a change in weather pattern - has dropped the humidity to 47% - MUCH better than the 87% we had this morning (it's always higher in the mornings, but still) - yuck.
The grill is lit and ribs will be on shortly. YUM! :)

A fairly low-key day here as well. I had the immense pleasure of breaking in my new kitchen, doing a huge grocery shop, unpacking was a joy, and I stood at the counter for a while, overlooking my green backyard, watching my cat sleep in the sun on the chaise lounge that I got around to uncovering (I freed it both from the crap that had collected there because of the chaos of construction and the drywall dust), chopping onions and peppers and chicken. I'm in the process of putting together meals for my aunt who is ill and for my grandfather. So far I've done King Ranch Chicken and an Italian breakfast casserole. I also have the goods for smoked shells, mostaccolli, a chicken and broccoli casserole, Swiss chicken casserole, BBQ pot pie... the usual. ;)
Still need to mow the lawn though!

In the past half hour the rain has stopped raining here in Warwickshire....thank goodness!
So like you I hope the weather picks up a bit now:)
It started to rain yesterday and it just poured and poured!
At least the garden has had a good drenching :)

Our garden is water logged!
There is an area in the middle of our garden that we have never liked ~ the lady who lived here before us planted some flowers ( but the area had more weeds then flowers!) it never really looked anything.
Plus it was the best place for the garden table/chairs, (we only have a small garden) so we pulled them all up on friday, we have put weed killer down and covered the area with plastic ~ we will then have it slabbed.
The plastic cover now looks like a pond!...All it's short of is a few fish swimming around:D
My son has recently moved out to live with his fiancee..we have had our first invitation to dinner with them tonight.

My friend in Milton Florida phoned yesterday.....to say they had been to Lambert's in Foley Alabama, and they were thinking of us as this time last year we were there with them.
I noticed that you are in Alabama.

Well here in Va we've not had rain for a couple weeks and we could use it, but I'd like for it to hold off untill I got the lawn mowed, and finish getting the pool open...I'd also like to At least get in the pool this weekend....
I love the hot weather! I do not mind the humidity either, I was born in the tropics and feel that my body craves that weather. I work in the heat in the garden all summer and just pop into the pool when I get hot...
Yesterday we got several small projects done, I cleaned the walk of any weeds, today I will spray with round up to prevent them growing back. I pulled Crown Vetch from the gravel around the pool. A plant used for green fertilizer that DH thought was a wonderful idea, he let it go to seed and it moved all over the place, been fighting it for years. This year I got it before it seeded. We got the Sun Shades up on the Pool Tent and have almost completed the chems to open the pool. I've got several plans for this afternoon, small projects so that I can keep the dog cool and quiet.
But this afternoon we will do chicken on the grill and I want to do that roasted corn salad on this months issue of CL....sounds yummy.
Well if I'm going to get anything done, I'd better get off this computer.

Hope today is better with the humidity for you.
The temps. are a bit high here in this house today!
We are doing some decorating, and the paint roller has just broken...my husband is not happy:mad:
He has had to go into town to get a new one.....I've stayed here as my daughter and her friends are going out for the day and they are meeting here.....they were supposed to be going at 11:45.....they are all running late....could be due to the fact that none of them got in until nearly 4am this morning:cool:

Well, it's at 90% at the moment, but it's still early and it's very foggy. Hopefully some of that will clear out!
Ew, though - highs near 88 this week. This is July or August weather for around here! Guess I'd better get my butt out the door and walk Bailey early each morning or it won't get done (since our evenings are always booked with activities).
But again, my tomato and basil plants should be very happy. :)

It looks great - thanks!
But the camera isn't picking up the countertops - we need a close up of those. ;)
So looks like there's mostly just the backsplash left? Are the walls staying white? If they are white - it was hard to tell.
Great tiling job! I probably already said this, but I'm so chicken to try doing stuff like that myself - very impressive.
Enjoy. :)

Yeah, counter tops... Those aren't tiled yet. What you are seeing is durarock. And if you look close enough, next to the stove, you may be able to see the little love notes that the contractor left for me, written ON the counter in sharpie marker. Things like "dishwasher not levelled or locked down" and "stove connected but not level" and "refrigerator needs lifts in the back". The wall colour is currently "drywall primer white" - not sure what colour I'll paint yet. I'll wait to see what happens with the back splash.

Granite tile - that's a great option - I'd never heard of anyone doing that.
