I would love feedback on the menu we have planned for a christening luncheon on Sunday. Two babies will be christened. Our baby and the son of our best friends. They are traveling in from out of town.

We leave church at 12:30 pm and plan to tell people that lunch will be served at 1:30 pm (to give us some time to get food reheated and on the table before everyone decends on our house). We will have 30 guests.

Union Square Bar Nuts (me)
Sausage Bites (Friend)
Mini Baked Potato Bites (friend)
CL Spanakopita (friend)

Sprial Ham (MIL)
Turkey Breast--brined ala Alton Brown (me and my mom)
Roast Beef (I don't think this is needed but I am having trouble talking my mom out of making it)

Assorted Rolls for sandwiches (including Whole Wheat Rolls from Trapp Family Lodge Baking Book)
Dan's Mustard (Hayday Market Cookbook)
Chive Horseradish Mayo--Taylor Florence

Spinch Salad (MIL)

Marble Cake with Raspberry Filling and Buttercream Icing (Bakery)

Some questions:
1. Do you think we need any other sides? I was going to make a german (or other mayoless) potato salad but we already have the mini potatoes.

2.I would like to add another veggie side? Think this is needed? Any ideas?

3. If we have time I might do something with fruit (fruit salad or dipped strawberries. Your suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks!

Maybe it's because I have just started a diet, but your menu seems a little on the heavy side to me. I think a platter of fresh cut up fruit & vegetables would be a nice addition. I agree w/ you that the potato salad probably isn't necessary along side the potato bites.

What about something like cold broccoli tossed with a vinaigrette? Or roast asparagus (not sure what prices are like there right now)? I agree with you, another veg would be nice.

I was thinking the same thing. Everything you have listed sounds wonderful, but a few more fruity sides or veggie salads (as opposed to potato salads) would lighten things up a little.

I would add a fruit plate or fruit salad and consider a pasta or pea salad. I agree with you, you don't need the roast beef!

Thanks for the suggestions! I plan to add a fruit salad or berries with creme anglese on the side. I'm also going to throw in some raw veggies with dip.

If anyone has a good, light pasta salad or summery veggie side that doesn't need reheating please let me know!:)
