View Full Version : And on that cheerful note...what would you do all over again?

On the happier side of introspection, I would gladly...
...marry my current (second) DH again.
...buy again the horse that has been a lot of work but given me a doctorate in equine psychology and become a beloved friend.
...get just one more pet, because I love each one of them so dearly and enjoy them every day.
...tell my very ill grandfather, for the first time, that I love him.
...plant a large garden even though I have to weed it and nobody can eat that many radishes.
...stick with my low-level, low-paying job because the legislature is considering a much better, new position for which I am perfect, and which I got.
...buy the house I fell in love with despite the price tag that was just over the high end of my budget.
...have the courage to establish a friendship with the woman at work who intrigued me.
...stumble across this BB. :)

Take a chance on that nice guy that I met at a Jaycee event who e-mailed me out of the blue a month after we met; who as of next week will be my husband.
Quit my last job, because that place was making my literally sick. Sure I'm poor now, but my health is more important than $.
Even though it wasn't all great, I wouldn't redo my early 20s. The hardship and choices I made are what makes me a great person today.

I would relive it all and have it play out EXACTLY the same way!:)

Great thread!
*marry DH
*have twins
*become a Christian
*move to Albuquerque
*go to Italy
*make that fantastic breakfast I made yesterday!
*I'd pretty much do it all over - even the bad stuff (except try cottage cheese and menudo...YUCK!) - it's part of what has made me who I am!

**Make the same major choice in college (psychology)
**Marry my husband
**Move to Tahoe
**Pick the same career

Even though I said I wouldn't have married my ex-husband...I still would since otherwise I wouldn't have my two wonderful sons. I just would have gotten divorced sooner!
I would still make the career move that I'm in the process of doing. Its scary making so much less money at the moment, but SO worth not driving home saying 'I hate my job'.

**Move to Northern Virginia
**Move back to Colorado
**Spend a year in Chile
**Start coaching again
**Waiting while unemployed rather than taking a filler job, otherwise I wouldn't have ended up where I am now.
Pretty much everything the same, especially:
Marrying dh.
Starting a family immediately.
Choosing a Great Dane as a family pet.
Learning to love coffee.

The one thing I did that I would absolutely do all over again was ditching the religion I was raised in. My life is so much richer because of that decision! :)

Pretty much all of it, because even the bad decisions made me who I am today.
But, if we are talking about decisions I am especially glad I made, the ones that really stand out for me are:
Marrying my DH
Leaving my financially rewarding, but very demanding, career as a lawyer to stay home with my kids. Sometimes it has meant things are a little tight, and sometimes it has left me searching for *myself* a bit, but all in all for me and my family it was the best decision.
Taking the plunge and agreeing to teach preschool when I was asked. It was totally different than any job I had ever had before, but I truly love it.

Difficult to say, really. I'd be open to being a whole different person and choosing an entirely new adventure, I think.
