Someone had posted a message for a Seacoast New Hampshire club just prior to the revised bulletin board. I'm interested in trying to get a group together - anyone else out there?

OK, so far there's 3 of us! Want to wait another week or so and see if any others respond? Then if everyone's still interested, try to hook up for dinner out somewhere? Where in the Seacoast are you both from? I'm in Newmarket.

Waiting a little longer might be good, see if anyone else is interested. I'm in York, Mainr, but I teach at UNH, so driving is not a problem.

Hello All! I'd love to hook up with the supper club group. I live in Newburyport so would fit well into any of the Northern MA, Southern NH and Seacoast groups. Weeknights are personally less desireable for me than weekends as I would have no prep time prior to dinner due to work. Anyone in the group interested in starting a monthly Saturday venture? Say the first Saturday each month?

I am very interested in a supper club. It sounds like fun. Just a little warning, I am not a great cook as of yet. I live in Seabrook, so it seems we are all pretty close to each other. I'm up for a Saturday night cooking venture!

Hi everyone! I just read the article on Supper Clubs and it sounds like great fun! I'm in Ipswich and Saturday night, once a month, sounds good to me. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
Angie

Saturdays once a month also sounds god to me -- however, the first Saturdays may not be as good for me, at least not for the summer, as I'll be out of town both days. Any other Saturdays O.K.? If not, I can always catch it when school starts.

Hello everyone!
I haven't checked the bulletin board for a few days, and was glad to see a lot of interest in getting a supper club going in this area! So far 6 of us have responded--me (Newmarket), Angie (York), Newfdogz (Ipswich), debbs (Seabrook), HeidiCyros (Newburyport) and jackieflanagan (?). I propose that we agree on a date and place to meet, send a posting to the Southern NH and Northern MA lists, and see who shows up!
Saturdays seem to be the preferred night, so how about July 15? What's a good midway point? Portsmouth maybe, but restaurants are always packed there. Hampton?
What does everone think?

I would be interested. I live in southern Maine, close to NH. I love the idea of the supper club and I love Cooking Light!

Sautrday, July 15 is OK by me. Why don't we set a place and time and whoever can make it can just show up. That would be a good opportunity to begin building a phone list as well as a new and fun tradition http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I don't know much in the Hampton area for restaurants, anyone else want to name the place? We can plan to meet at 7:00 if that is OK for people. Looking forward to meeting our new group - the Seacoast Sizzlers! ;-)

Hi Maura, Angie, Jackie, Debbs, NewfDogz,Heidi & KPark39 :
I also just read the Supper Club article in Cooking Light this month and think it is a GREAT idea! I jumped on here to see if there was anyone from Seacoast NH interested and am pleasantly surprised at how many of us there are!
I'm in Portsmouth and would love to get together for dinner some night that works for everyone. I work down in MA and am generally pretty busy on the weekends, so a weeknight may be better for me, but I will try and make whatever night works best for everyone.
Not sure if I can make Sat, July 15th, but if that's the night - I'll do my best.(That week is ok, I'd just prefer say Wed, July 12th instead). I think I may be able to recruit another Portsmouth person who loves the magazine as well.
Look forward to meeting you all.
Maura

Well this is rather embarassing, but after proposing July 15 as the date for the "group dinner", I now can't make that date! It'll probably be impossible to pick one date/time that everyone can make, though, so if a majority of you want to schedule for the 15th, those of us who can't make it can join up at the next get-together. I could do the 22nd though!
Or, I could fit in a weeknight, too, but the 12th is not good for me...maybe later in the following week.

I just checked back in and am glad to see the interest here in the Seacoast area. I'm not sure I can make it July 15th, as there are some tentative plans to be out of town and I may not be back by that evening, but I'll try. Someone told me that a good and reasonably priced Italian restaurant in the Hampton area is Ronaldo's -- I have no idea where it is, unfortuatley. More pricey, but good, is Hemingway's in Rye. A good and healthy Chinese in Portsmouth is Taipei & Tokyo in Marshall's Plaza. Anyone else have any suggestions? Unfortunately, weeknights are harder for me usually, and the 12th is out. The 22nd would be good for me. What does anyone else think? Lok forward to getting together.

Hi Again-
Ronaldos is a good italian restaurant in Hampton - servings are HUGE and its not too pricey. The restaurant is located on Rt. 1 in a little plaza with Great Bay Pottery, a NH liquor store and I think a Rite Aid. Looks like we are having trouble with dates!
I agree that we should pick a date and those who can't make it can come to the next one. July 22nd is out for me, I'll be out of town. Looks like the 12th and 15th aren't going to work either... How about a happy medium between the weekend and weeknights, a Friday? Say July 21st??
Maura
06-30-2000, 02:38 PM
I'm up for Friday, July 21 at Ronaldo's. I agree, the food there is great! However, the wait can be kind of long, but as long as noone will be in a big hurry, Ronaldo's gets my vote!
How about everyone else?
Angie
06-30-2000, 09:51 PM
Friday the 21st at Ronaldo's sounds fine to me, the wait may give us time to introduce ourselves, so that may not be too bad. I hope that date, say around 7 p.m.? will work for most people. See whoever shows up then!

Hi again.
So it looks like the 21st at 7 at Ronaldos (sp)? How far on Rte 1 in Hampton? Any idea which exit I should take from 95? I would be coming from Maine.
I am hoping that my sister might come too. Sounds like it might be fun. What has anyone made from the recent issues of CL? Do you have an all time fav recipe from CL? Maybe I should save all my questions for when we get together.
I will check the board again. Hope this will all come together for us.
Have a great 4th!!!!

Hi all! Looks like the first meeting will be Friday, July 21st at Ronaldo's on Route 1 in Hampton, NH (603) 964-5064.
It looks like there may be people interested in joining us from two other topic strings (Southern, NH & Northern, MA) It also seems that we may need to make two groups to accommodate those who need to meet weekdays vs. weeknights. However, maybe it would be best to meet once and decide from there in person (I'm having a hard time keeping everyones' user names straight!) I will post this meeting time and place to all three groups and suggest that all those interested, feel free to join the initial meeting and we can go from there. See you on the 21st!

Hi everyone! Kristen had asked for directions to Ronaldo's from I-95. I believe the 2 closest exits are NH 1 Bypass in Portsmouth or NH 101 in Hampton, neither of which will get you too close to Ronaldo's, which is located on the southeast corner of NH 111 and Rte 1 in North Hampton. From the north, I'd probably just take Rte 1 down from Portsmouth, otherwise you end up backtracking from Hampton. Ronaldo's is in a really nondescript strip shopping center on the east side of Rte 1.
The restaurant isn't too big, so if we think we're going to be a sizeable group, we'll need to make sure they can accommodate us (on a Friday night).
*If everyone will RSVP here I'll be glad to contact the restaurant in advance!

I look forward to seeing everyone on the 21at at 7 p.m. at Ronaldo's -- reservations sound like a good idea, thanks for taking care of it Maura. I'll be coming from Maine also, KPark 39, and plan to get off I-95 at Rt 33 to Greenland but then getting on Ocean Blvd to Rye and down Rt 1, that way you miss a lot of the hairy Rt 1 traffic which seems to ne especially bad this summer with construction and increased traffic. Two groups may be fine depending on scheduling needs, but we could possibly change around if necessary if that meets with everyone's approval.

Hi All-
I'm 90% committed to the 21st - may have to cancel last minute due to possible out of town family guests... However, Maura, if you could count me in on the reservation that would be great. I'll make sure to post back if I can't make it at the last minute.
Looking forward to meeting you all.

I am also interested in joining! I live in Stratham. However, I am unable to make it on the 21st. Maybe I can make the next meeting? Ronaldo's is very good.

Hello everyone,
Friday the 21st is great with me. I'm not sure if Ronaldo's takes reservations but you could give it a try. Very good food!!!!! I hope to see everyone there!!!!

Hi everyone!
I had dinner last week at Ronaldo's and asked about a group reservation for 7:00 Friday the 21st. They can't take a reservation, but will try their best to accommodate our group around that time, if they get a "heads up" earlier that evening that we'll be showing up. I'll stop by the restaurant when they open and let them know that a group of 6 or 7 of us will be there at 7:00. As of now, I've got: debbs, nicky_callahan, HeidiCyros, Angie, KPark 39 and Maura (me). If anyone's plans have changed, or if there are others out there who plan on attending, please email this bulletin board so we have an accurate head count.
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi Maura & Everyone-
I just wanted to let you know that I can't make it on Friday due to a family obligation. I'm bummed! Please let me know how it goes and include me in the next meeting. If for some reason the meetings get split up due to location and/or best time to meet, I'm in Portsmouth and can meet more easily on weeknights.
Have fun!

Several of us met at Ronaldo's last night and had a delicious meal, it's definitley worth going back to! we enjoyed meeting one another and getting acquainted. Sorry that we didn't get to meet some of you -- hope you didn't get lost! Maura has graciously said she would get an e-mail list together of everyone who is interested. We decided to meet one more time at a local restaurant to get acquainted and see who's interested. We picked Friday August 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Taipei and Tokyo in Portsmouth. Maura said she would also notify people about it. Look forward to meeting again.

Hi everyone!
As Angie posted, several of us met and had a great dinner and conversation Friday night, and are looking forward to meeting the others who expressed interest in the Supper Club! We also discovered that the several of us there have more interests in common than just Cooking Light--maybe some hiking or other outdoor activities in the Club's future?!
We hope that everyone can make it to Taipei & Tokyo (on Woodbury Ave. in Portsmouth, between Market Basket and Kmart) at 7:00, Friday, Aug. 25. The plan is to schedule the Club's first "in-home dinner" then!
I'll put together an email list so we can be in contact with each other off the bulletin board. If you're still interested in joining the Supper Club, make sure your "profile" on this site contains your email address, or if you'd rather, just email it to me at the address on my profile.
It sounds like this could really be a lot of fun, and that we've got an interesting group of people already started! Hope to see more of us on Aug. 25th!
Hello everyone! I just logged on for the first time today, curious to see if any Seacoast NH folks would have posted for a Supper Club. This is great, you guys already have it in the works. My husband and I would love to join in! We live in Raymond, NH, about 16 miles west of the Hampton toll booth. Sounds like we're all in good proximity. Maura, please include us in the dinner for Friday, 8/25. Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing some scrumptous food!

Hey Debbie, glad you and your husband will be able to join us! At the next meeting on August 25th, we will set the first date and location to launch our new cooking club.
If there is anyone else out there that wants to join in, let us know so we can include you in the first plans. Specifically, are debbs, cathy-NH, nicky_callahan and Kpark39 still interested? We'd love to have you all come to the next dinner!
See you all there. In the meantime - I baked the blueberry-lemon muffins posted on this Website this month - they were fantastic! I've also bought one of the Cooking Light cookbooks to augment my choices to cook for the first meeting ;-)
See you all there!

Hi, all! I "ditto" Heidi's remarks. Deb, glad that you and your husband are interested in joining. I, too, made the lemon blueberry muffins and they were delicious. There are several places to pick fresh blueberries around in seacoast NH and Maine (one just down the road from me in York), and they are really good right now. Hope to see all of you on the 25th.

Maura, I tried to e-mail you, but it didn't go through the first time. I tried again, hopefully you got it this time. I am still interested in joining the club and I should be able to make it on the 25th. I am looking forward to meeting everyone! See you there!

Cathy - Apparently there was some trouble on my end with receiving your email. It was a little garbled, but I was able to determine that 2 of you are planning on being there on the 25th! Look forward to meeting you! Others who wish to RSVP can email me directly (check the Profile for address) or post here.

I'm so psyched to see all the interested people. I'll have to check my calendar, but I'd be interested in joining you all. I may have a friend who'd want to come along too. I live in Melrose, but work in Portsmouth, so I'm pretty flexible.
Maura

Glad to hear from another interested person! By the end of the week I'm going to put together an email and send to all who have expressed interest in a Seacoast Cooking Club. We're still planning on Aug 25th at Taipei & Tokyo, and will need to get a firm idea for a reservation before. There are a few others outside of the on-line bulletin board that we've heard from, so hopefully everyone can make the 25th and we can get this group COOKING!
Maura

P.S. So if you haven't emailed me your email address, and it's not in your Cooking Light profile, please send me your address or just RSVP right on the bulletin board.

Just posting this message to pull our string back up to the top of the list. Looking forward to meeting everyone at the Taipei & Tokyo on Woodbury Ave in Portsmouth/Newington on Friday, 8/25 at 7:00 PM (in Shaw's plaza next to Circuit City and Home Depot entrance - take a right off of the Gosling Road/Pease Int'l Tradeport Exit on the Spaulding Turnpike). If you are planning on coming, be sure to email Maura as she will try to make a reservation for all of us.
See you then!

Room for one more?
I live in Kennebunkport and cannot seem to generate interest in starting a club in Southern Maine/Greater Portland area.
