The professional photographer pics will not be available for a few weeks, so for now, I'll post the pics that DH took of me at our family dinner Sunday night, both with and without cute denim jacket:

I got a ton of compliments on the dress and shoes (which were killing my feet after about 3 hours). I'm not usually a dress person, so most of his family has not seen me in one, unless you count my wedding dress. I was pretty happy with how the whole thing went together, spray-on tan and all. :D

Thanks, everyone! :o It was fun to play dress-up for a change. I had serious reservations about the dress after I had already invested way too much in the dress, shoes, jewelry, etc., but that night, I felt like a million bucks, so it was all worth it.

The dinner went great. We all had a fabulous time, the food was excellent (menu was spinach/apple salad, choice of ribeye with chipotle mashed potatoes & steamed asparagus, snapper veracruz with rice & grilled vegetables, or grilled chicken and shrimp in a chipotle cream sauce with rice & borracho beans, and rum tres leches cake for dessert), and the restaurant atmosphere was perfect. There was a small snafu with the restaurant when it came time to close out the tab for dinner, but they took care of it quickly and discreetly. It was nice to have an evening that was all about family (except for the friends that BIL invited, but that was another rant that I got over once we were actually there - what's done is done and we moved on), since the following day was all about BIL and his retirement. I can't wait to see the photos when they are ready!

Well, I won't give the spray-on tan ALL the credit. I was pretty tanned already (been playing golf with my DH), but I had tan lines on my arms from the last time I played golf (in a short-sleeved shirt), and tan lines on my chest from the cami-style top I wore the first time I played golf. If you look REALLY close, you can still see them all, but the spray-on really did work wonders in blending everything to make it a lot less noticeable. The tan lines on my back did not blend nearly as well and were still very noticeable, but luckily no one took pictures of me from behind. At least that I know of. :o

WOW! The dress looks so great on you. You made the right choice. The denim jacket was perfect, too. Sorry the shoes hurt... but glad you felt like $1,000,000! Are you secretly hoping for another occasion (soon) to wear the dress? I would be.

Absolutely gorgeous, Eva. Thanks so much for posting. :)

Like Micah, I never would have put that jacket with that dress (fashion diva that I'm NOT  ) but it totally worked. Wonder who that little bird was, anyway....... ;)

Well done, my dear - sore feet and all. :D

Given how great I looked ;) :p, I'm sure the little birdie won't mind me outing her. Lisa(numbers) emailed me with the idea, and she even started it off with, "I know you're gonna HATE this idea, buuuut...." And my very first initial reaction was, "Whaaaaat??!?!?! Wear WHAT with my beautiful dress????" And then I *loved* it. Rush shipped the cute little jacket that I found online at Macy's (which was a steal) and was at first disappointed at how it looked with the dress standing in my living room, but I liked it better than the pashmina (which is going back), so I packed it and took it "just in case." And I'm glad I did! I could have gone without it (it was not cold enough in the restaurant to need it) but wore it for a little while anyway, just because I wanted to. :)

DH still owes me a couple of foot massages. I was practically in tears walking to the car after dinner and he offered me a piggyback ride (which I declined - he barely weighs five pounds more than me!). Then he promised to rub my feet when we got back to the hotel, which was not until almost 4:00 in the morning. I think I'll cash in tonight. :D

I have to agree... your outfit was fantastic! I love those shoes. I just got some similar but in gold, and I agree about how "good" they feel after a bit of standing.

I missed your other threads... what was the party for? Sounds like it was a blast! Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed your pictures even without knowing all the detals...:)

Everything looks beautiful... I like the simplicity of the jewelry. No need for a necklace- the bracelet and earrings get it done nicely.

Oh my gosh, you look gorgeous! What a fabulous ensemble. I've had those occasions when my feet have suffered my cute shoes, but it's so worth it to get "the look"! Glad you had fun at the event.

Eva - you looked fabulous! I'm so glad we got to see photos of everything all together. I read through the dress, the shoes, the pashmina... :) I also missed what the occasion was.

I have questions about the spray on tan. It looks terrific even though you had some natural help with your golf time. Did you have to have help to get it even or do the products somehow spray well enough that you can do it yourself? How long does it take to show up as tan? How long does it last?

Kim (and Loren), the party was a family dinner in San Antonio that DH & I hosted for his parents, siblings, and their families. DH, his siblings (3 brothers, 1 sister = 5 total), and his parents have not all been together in the same room at the same time since his sister got married in 1991. They were all coming together for the oldest brother's retirement from the Air Force, so we thought it was a good occasion to celebrate and get some family pictures taken.

Loren, I had the spray tanning (a la Mystic Tan, but slightly different, I think, although I have never done it before so it might be the same) done at my salon. It's a dye-free, aloe-based formula that goes on clear so you don't have to worry about staining your clothes or anything. The girl who did it was looking all very high tech, with her laser-guided spray applicator and black light (since that's how you tell that the spray has gone on evenly, since it's clear), which had me a bit freaked out. She did paint over the lines that were really contrasted with a brushy, but the rest evened out nicely just by the all-over spray. I had it done on Thursday morning, and after a couple of hours, you can see your skin start to darken. It will continue to darken for up to 12 hours, and at any point that you think it's dark enough, you just shower, and that will stop it from getting any darker. Unfortunately, I was at work, so I was stuck with it until I got home. On Friday, my face looked REALLY tan, and I freaked out about it, but by Sunday night's dinner party, everything looked great. I'm told it lasts about a week or so. Mine still looks pretty good now although I can tell it is not as dark as it was on the first and second days. Well worth the $50 it cost me.

I was out of town when this final dress thread and photos came out. I'm so glad I dug it up after seeing you on the current "photo" thread.

*Love* the dress. You look fabulous! (you might be tired after 2 pages of that now, but I had to chime in) The final shoe decision was perfect.

You know, when the denim jacket was mentioned, I wondered about that look, but it was GREAT. The dress looked great with and without the jacket! You did good!
