Is any one else frustrated by the lack of television shows that feature healthy cooking? My fiance and I watch the Food Network often, but we are trying to eat heathly and Emeril puts a little too much butter in with his 'bam'. His food may be happy, but following his style of cooking would not make my wasteline happy! Will CL ever produce a television show? It would be a great addition to the magazine and website. What does everyone else think?

We don't get the food network http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/frown.gif. I watch some of the shows from PBS though, and yes, I have to agree, there is a lack of light cooking. And I agree again that I would love a Cooking Light show!
Actually, there was one lady, I can't for the life of me remember her name, maybe someone can help me out here. She was from Portland I think, Capril, or Capriccio, or something like that. She did some really nice light dishes.
As the Disney channel doesn't show too many cooking shows lately I've kind of been out of the loop. Although .... Timon and Pumbaa did have a good bug recipe, and Jett Jackson's grandma looked like she made a heck of a pie!

Kim, I think you're talking about Caprial Pence. Her show is still on PBS. When I was on maternity leave with my 4 yr old, I got hooked. Then it was back to work. Now that we've moved, I find she's not on every weekday. It seems to be 1 or 2 days a week, some weeks, when they feel like it, but it depends on your local station. Some of her recipes are light, others definitely not, but I like her style. She has a website (someone else clued me in here), www.caprial.com. (http://www.caprial.com.)
Missi, I agree a cooking program featuring lighter, healthier fare would have its place. Emeril probably uses more butter than I remember others using, but I could retire off the olive oil consession for that network!

I agree too. My favorite on TV Food network is Sara Moulton's cooking live. She sometimes features lighter recipes or suggests ways to cut back on the fat when she is making a fuller fat recipe. As for Emeril...well sometimes he educates me on a new technique, but otherwise covers up too much of his cooking(nice fresh ingredients) with pork fat! Does it really rule!Alton brown(Good Eats) also has a nice show. Down to earth stuff.

I agree with learning new techniques from Emeril - I love watching him, but his food is definitely on the rich side.
In Canada Bonnie Stern has a television show on WTN (Women's Television Network) called "Bonnie Stern Entertains". It's on Mondays at 10:30am/7:30am PT. I don't know if cable in the States carries it or not. Here is the web site address: http://www.wtn.ca/wtn/htdocs/programs/bonniesternentertains.html

Along with Caprial Pence, Mollie Katzen and...hmmm...what's her name? Joanne Weir? (Weir Cooking in the Wine Country) have excellent shows featuring fresh, low fat ingredients. I have found both on PBS.

I agree with you all that CL should have a show on the Food Network or something. I love to watch those shows and Emeril is my fav! His Banana Cream Pie is to die for, however a little on the heavy side. Thanks!

I am in total agreement! Cooking Light needs a daily or weekly cooking show featuring their recipes. I have watched the old CL Holiday cooking show and it's great. (haven't seen the new one though)
I like Grahm Kerr's show, but don't know if it's still on.
My friends always laugh at me because having my own light cooking show is my dream.
We always talk about how they can be on "my show" and demonstrate their recipes.
Cooking Light...are you listening?

Didn't CL have some kind of special on recently. That's how i first found out about the supper clubs. I have no idea if it was just a one time thing. Does this sound familiar to anyone else

Laden-- You have my vote for host!!! Now just convince them to do the show!!!
Wrunkles-- I too saw the CL special. I think that's is what got me thinking that this needs to be a full time venture!

I agree CL needs to make a TV show-be it regular/weekly, (Hint-Hint!!). I watch some of them/all of them but, if I see a recipe that I like, I know ways of making it lighter; sometimes you can substitute, etc. I make some from CL-(1st choice-of course! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif), Emeril, Martha, the local TV stations, BH&G and so on.. I love this site & I also know there are many talented people on here, that should have a Website of their own!! And CL, ya really should think about your own show! Take care everyone! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Zinnia
