I'm in Aston. Do you know where that is? I'm about 15 min from the Granite Run mall and Springfield mall.
Hi Tiger,
I would be very interested in starting a supper club. I'm in Secane. Which is right next to Springfield.

Hi Red,
This is great! My husband grew up in Secane and I grew up in Ridley. Hopefully we get a few more interested so we can get started!

I'm in Phila so I'm not sure if that's too far for you all.
I just joined a group in New Jersey but would consider a PA group too.
Let me know if you decide to get together to discuss details.

I'm in Wallingford and excited to see so many people who are interested in starting a club nearby!

Yes, this is great! So far we have Irene (Belgusa from Swarthmore), Deena (deenab from Wallingford), Michelle (eggbeater from Drexel Hill) and me Patty (Tiger from Aston).
My hope is to get a date we can meet at a local resturant and plan out how we want to do it. As you know each club is run a little different.
I know Irene is going on vacation soon so we may be looking at the end of Aug. or Sept.
Belgusa

Great. I'm leaving this Friday, so any day after the 27th of August will be fine. I'll let you make the choice of the restaurant. If you want to set a date, just let me know before Friday. See you soon. Irene.

We're taking a little vacation too. I'll be around until the 28th, but will be back on Sept. 2. Otherwise, I'm pretty free.

Because of all the vacations we'll just shoot for sometime in Sept.
After the 2nd of coarse. Maybe by than we'll find a few more people interested. 4 of us would be fine but I think 6 to 8 people is better. More food! LOL!

I'm going to put some dates out there. What's good for everyone?
Tues. Sept 10th
Fri. Sept 20th
Sat. Sept 21st
Sun. Sept 22nd
Mon. Sept 23rd
Thurs. Sept. 26th
Not knowing what days are good for everyone I tried to pick a selection.
Any resturant suggestions?

Thanks for getting the ball rolling!
The 20th-22nd dates are best for me. The 10th is the only date that is really bad.
Anyone interested in New Orleans Cafe or Iron Hill Brew Pub in Media? I'm open to pretty much anything.

I live in Media, and I am VERY interested in getting together with all you folks who are trying to get a Supper Club started. Please let me know what I need to do.
Thanks!
Chrisy
PS: every date you have suggested is OK for me as well except the 10th. Feel free to email me with details.

Welcome Chrisy!
There's nothing you have to do. Right now we're just trying to get a date in Sept. to meet at a local resturant. There we can decide the details on how we want our Supper Club to run.
Look forward to meeting you. ~~Patty

No, Susan you're not too late. In fact you have perfect timing! We're in the process of meeting for the first time. We're up to about 7 interested people.
In fact we should probably be voting for a date to meet. Than we can also vote on a resturant. (still taking suggestions if anyone has any)
We are down to:
Fri. Sept 20th
Sat. Sept 21st
Sun. Sept 22nd
Please post or PM me with your vote.~~~Patty

Hi Patty,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, this is exciting!! Any of the dates should be fine, but if I had to pick ONE, I would pick Friday.
I'm really glad it's not going to be the 10th, I'll be in Texas!
Looking forward to this.

Ok everyone it looks like Sat./ Sept 21st is it! From the postings and PM's it seems to be the only date everyone can make it which was my goal.

Sept 21st sounds great. I am looking forward to meeting everyone.
what time?
Tiger
09-12-2002, 07:45 PM
Ok, everyone it's getting closer! We need to vote on a resturant and time.
Here are the resturant suggestions I've received. (I believe they are a central location for everyone.)
New Orleans Cafe Media or Eddystone
Iron Hill Brew Pub Media
Outback Steakhouse Springfield
Houlihan's Springfield
John Harvard's Brew House Springfield
La-Na Restaurant. Thai-French Cuisine Media
Caffe Bellissimo Springfield
We also have to vote on a time: 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, or 8pm.
Please post or PM me your votes.
BTW it looks like we'll be having 8 members. We're a pretty local group too: Wallingford, Swarthmore, Media, Drexel Hill, Havertown, and Aston.

Hi,
I've been to most of these restaurants at least once. The only one I haven't tried although I heard good things about it is the New Orleans Cafe. It's also a good bit more expensive than the other ones (it's one of the reasons I haven't tried it so far ).
Here are our preferences :
1) La-Na
2) Iron Hill
3) John Harvard
Concerning the time : 8 (or even 7 if necessary) would be better for us. My husband is coming along because he would like to participate in the group also. We also like to cook together.

Going out to dinner anywhere sounds great to me... The only one I haven't tried is La-Na...It sounds interesting!! Not to make things more confusing but I prefer The Original New Orleans Cafe in Eddystone over Media. I'll go anywhere, it really doesn't matter where! Thanks, Mary Pat

I am a fan of all of the places people have been mentioning (except Outback- but that is mostly because of the long wait).
I love New Orleans Cafe, but it is the most expensive.
I just got back from California and have the perfect wine for La Na if we go there....(if anyone is interested!).
I'll vote for La Na, New Orleans Cafe or Cafe Belissimo....

They take everything except Discover.
At first I panicked because they said they don't take reservations on Fri. and Sat. night. But I convienced them. I believe it was because we have a large party. They said they'll have the table ready for us.
See everyone Sat. night at 7:30!

Thanks to everyone for coming out last night. I think we're going to have a great club! We'll be learning a lot from each other.
Thanks to Irene for the restaurant suggestion. I'm already trying to plan when I can go back!
I've already heard from Susan and she's sorry she was unable to meet up with us last night but still wants to be part of the club. Once I hear from Chrisy we can start planning the details for our Oct 5th dinner.
talk to you soon, Patty

I decided to post the details of our meeting for Susan, Chrisy, and Robyn. That way you guys can help me if I forgot anything! Susan and Robyn definitley want to be members. Chrisy is still up in the air.
~~~We'll meet the first Saturday of every month. (Host will decide on time) We realized there is no way we can pick a date every month that 9 people can agree on. This way everyone knows when it is and you can let the Host know if you'll be coming.
~~~The Host will pick the theme, organize, get their house ready, and supply soft drinks. BYOB They will be the "contact" person for that month.
~~~Before we leave for the evening someone will volunteer to Host the next month.
~~~We'll pick appetizer, soup, salad, entree, side dishes, dessert by rotating each month. (The Host will organize the menu)
~~~Since most of us have small kitchens we'll be doing as much of the cooking at home as possible with the final touches, reheating ect. at the hostess's home.
~~~The recipes don't have to be from Cooking Light as long as they are healthy and somewhat lower in fat/calories.
I'll be hosting the first month. (Oct 5th) I picked a "Fall" theme. (Food that makes you think of the Fall season.) We'll be meeting at my house 7:30pm. As soon as Chrisy decides to join us or not I'll be sending everyone the members info.

Our CL Supper Club is up and running! Our first dinner was last night. An excellent meal if I can say so myself!
We decided to cap our club at 10 members. Right now we have 8. As we already discovered since we meet on Sat. nights we won't always be having full attendence.
If you live in Delaware Co. and are interested in joining our club please PM or e-mail me!~~~~Patty
