Great! So glad to have a response so soon. Let me know when and how we can talk and see if we can get something started. Good luck with your house hunting.

Well, thank goodness!
I had posted something a few weeks ago and didn't get a response. I am building in Warwick and work in Providence. I'd love to get something started in RI.

Anyone still interested in this?
I know I am. I can't believe that there are not more Rhode Islanders out there.......
I know you're out there.

I'm still interested! Should we schedule a planning meeting out somewhere central?

Sounds good to me.
I haven't found a place in RI that I would consider "far" so I'm happy to meet wherever.

Nancy--and other interested parties--
If you will send me an email, I would be happy to either get this started, or sit back quietly and let someone else take charge!

Hi fellow Rhode "Aylanduhs"....
I would love to participate in a R.I. supper club, but I live way down in Westerly. Anyone in the Westerly/Mystic CT area out there? I am a transplant from Long Island and am still getting used to living in a more rural area.

Personally, I don't think Westerly is too far at all! You have to consider that these clubs typically meet once a month or so--it's not like a daily commute or anything.
Good! We have some Rhody's interested. I guess the next step is to set a day and place to meet to discuss how this should work. Anyone want to take the lead?

This is great! Sounds like we have quite a few interested people. Does anyone have a favorite spot they would like to meet at, where accomodations for a large party (if necessary)would work? I tend to go into Providence, but parking is an issue there. Just another question-Would the supper club include spouses/friends after we organize it? Just trying to get a feel and thoughts from others.

How about meeting out to discuss further - my concern is that we have some people from opposite ends of the State - also to have a comfortable situation, we probably should set a number of people (in my case l0 would be max for a sit-down dinner) - how do others feel - perhap we could have one "club"in RI but different "groups" and there seem to be lots interested - we could have a "rotation" situation (spouses, included,of course) - any thoughts on this???? We could also start with a "pot luck" - I can accommodate many more in warmer weather as we have a deck (for a casual dine)

Good! Would Warwick be central for people to meet? Or maybe East Greenwich? I will defer to the locals as I don't know what is considered central. I'm willing to go wherever. I think we should do a restaurant meeting first--we can discuss how many are interested and then work it out from there. We can consider this first meeting a fact gathering mission at first and go from there.
Does that sound good to everyone?

Meeting in Warwick or EG OK with me - can we hear from those interested to estimate # of people. There's a great restaurant in Apponaug on Post Road called Remington House-
great food, casual, moderate pricing. If I
know #, then can make reservations. - Awaiting replies !!!!! If this location is a problem, we can certainly go elsewhere - but please reply.

Remington House is fine with me. I've never been and I'm always willing to try someplace new! Fridays are the easiest for me. If a Friday is fine, how about March 30th? Anytime after 5:00 would work for me.

Rec'd messages from 2 - re: Remington House
on the 30th - would that be 2couples? Hoping for any others out there - this restaurant is very easy to find - it's on Post Road -just beyond the intersection of Rt. 117 - if you need to take Rt 95 - you need 117 exit to Warwick (NOT WEST WARWICK) You wil come to intersection of Post Road/& 117 which is
Centerville Rd- at that point - take a right and REMINGTON HOUSE will be on your immediate LEFT - DRIVE IN RIGHT AFTER YOU SEE THE SIGN OUTSIDE AS THERE IS PARKING IN
REAR - We'll wait a few days to see if others reply & then call to make reservations if we have more than 6 coming - keep in touch if this sounds OK - 6-6:15 is
usually good and on Friday won't be too busy - they have great fireplaces & round tables if we have only 6. - HOPING FOR MORE! We can probably speak on phone prior to confirm once we have # of people going. we can exchange phone numbers later via e-mail - OK?

I won't be a "couple"--unless you want my two year old and five year old joining us...lol. My husband is not the cook in my house--though he will be present when I host at my house, of course.

On March 30th, I won't be a "couple" either. My hubby will be taking the kids out. My husband does not cook in the least, but he's great at trying all of my creations and anyone elses for that matter! I hope we can gather enough people by that date. I was tempted to email some of the originators just in case they gave up and were not in touch with the "bulletin board" lately.
Look forward to seeing you then!!

Wow- I'm so glad I checked back in...count me in for next Friday, probably as one. Maybe I'll let my husband off the hook for this. See you then!

Hi all - been reading your notes! Glad to see so many responding. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go on FRI NITE, after all.
We're going to be busy as my granddaughter's birthday is being celebrated at the restaurant of her choice (her 11th birthday)-so I hope you're all able to go - reservations not necessary at that time & you do have directions - hope it goes well and that you can make new acquaintances for the future - I'll catch up with you next week as I am also starting a new part-time job this week---GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!

Not to throw a monkey wrench into things--but we COULD pick another night......I think it'd be great if we can all go--I know how stuff comes up, but this was the first night we chose.
I will bow to the group decision!

I agree-it would be better to pick a night we could all meet. How does Friday, April 3rd sound- Same time same place? I'll await your replies.

As it turns out, this Friday (3/30) is hairy for me too but the month of April is worse (2 conferences out of town plus vacation- this is not the norm!). Please go ahead without me but keep me posted as to what you decide.
My general thoughts: I was in a (non-CL) dinner party group when I lived in VA. It was couples and met monthly during the week- we rotated houses. Whoever was hosting made the main course and everyone else brought the rest (drinks, bread, apps, sides, salads, dessert). It was really nice but I would caution about size: once we got over about 6 couples (12 people) it got a little crazy. We also had a degree of craziness because people brought their kids (usually under 2) but that was intentional- though I wouldn't recommend it (if it could be avoided).
Looking forward to meeting everyone and getting started!

I wasn't sure if I'd see any Rhode Islander's
so glad I did...I am interested and I know one of my friends would be too ...we were actually looking to form a northern RI group..we are involved in a group that is all RI and we thought of narrowing it down to northern area so travel won't be that bad and to meet people in this area...is April 3rd still on? Anyone interested in area groups?
Kristilyn1
03-29-2001, 06:14 AM
Glad to see more people interested!
Personally (and just an opinion here) but since these groups meet typically only once a month--is there really any area of RI that is too far away? Once we get to know each other--I'm sure we can ride share to the outlying areas.....
As far as this weekend, I was hoping we could come up with a date/time that we could all meet.....but again--I bow to the group. If everyone could email me their email address, we could start a "loop" and weigh in on this issue. When we meet, we can decide if it makes sense to split into groups, or whatever else people want to do.

I just realized my typo..I sugguested Fri., April 3rd... Sorry! I meant would Friday April 6th or April 27th work for anyone. Other than these dates, April is not good.
I also agree that since these groups would meet once per month, there really is no place in RI that is very far.
Also since we do have interested parties at this time, we should plan something soon..otherwise it just won't happen. If only a few of us meet, this can always be open to others who may want to take part.

April 6 or 27 works for me! How about anyone else?
