weight using the online Weight Watchers. I need to lose 40 pounds and it isn't convenient for me to go to Weight Watchers meetings in my town. The meetings are a distance away and the times don't work out for me. I have gone back to working full time. I am thinking of signing up and just wanted your imput about how successful it works when you go online. TIA

Yes, I have. It worked well for me for several reasons:

1) I never found the meetings to be that helpful. I like to cook from scratch, I don't eat many processed foods, and I really try to focus on healthy eating. In the meetings I attended, there was a great deal of talk about what new product was so great and low in points, how to microwave veggies, etc. (I'm sure this isn't the case everywhere!)

2) I found the focus at the meetings to be on the food, not the mental aspects of losing weight (again, this is just my experience; I'm sure others will disagree).

3) I'm on the computer constantly, so it was very easy to log in every morning and keep the window minimized to check in all day.

4) There's just no way I could make it to meetings regularly with my schedule.

I did not find support on the WW boards, for the most part, but I did find a lot here. I also read other books (like the Beck diet solution). But the WW plan is so flexible and easy to follow, and there is a lot of information on that site.

Thanks that is what I was thinking as well. I am not sure how the Canadian site differs from the American one but will check it out.

I have a friend who recently lost about 15 pounds using the online only tools. I think if you're independent, computer savvy and committed to doing it, it can work for you. The plan itself isn't tough, so I think the biggest pitfall is going to be staying motivated. There are obviously ways to do that on your own without a meeting, but I think that's where the meeting experience is key - keeping you focused and motivated.

You really have nothing to lose by trying it out. If it works, you'll have lost the weight, and if it doesn't work, well, at least you gave it a shot.

I think Lisa numbers lost her baby weight via WW online.

I have been going back in forth with signing up for the on-line vs. in person plan. I found the meetings to not be helpful at all unless you want to know the latest on highly processed foods that are low calories. What I did find helpful was having to stand in front of the person at the scale. Knowing that the weigh in was coming in a few days really helped me to rethink that cookie.
